Data Protection Officer

A prominent UK law firm is looking for a Data Protection Officer to join its Risk & Compliance Team.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced data protection professional to take a key role in developing, implementing and monitoring the firm's data protection framework.The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's fee-earning Data Protection Group, providing specialist advice and supporting the development of policies, standards and processes across the firm.Key Responsibilities for the Data Protection Officer:Develop, maintain and monitor the firm's data protection policies, standards and procedures.Work closely with the firm's fee-earning Data Protection Group to ensure a consistent and effective approach to data protection across the firm.Provide expert advice and guidance on data protection and privacy matters to lawyers and business teams.Review and assess data protection risks associated with vendors, contractors and other third parties.Advise on data processing arrangements, data sharing, international transfers and other privacy-related matters.Assist with the development and delivery of data protection training and awareness initiatives.Work collaboratively with Risk & Compliance, IT, Information Security, Procurement and other key stakeholders on data protection initiatives.Keep up to date with developments in data protection legislation, regulatory guidance and industry best practice.Key RequirementsExperience working in a data protection, privacy or information governance role, ideally within a law firm environment.Strong knowledge of UK data protection legislation, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.Experience developing, implementing and monitoring data protection policies, standards and procedures.Strong understanding of data protection risk and compliance requirements.A relevant data protection or privacy qualification would be advantageous.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading UK law firm and play a key role in strengthening and developing its data protection and privacy framework.
