Ltd. provides AI, data analytics, GIS, and technical consulting solutions for projects across the energy, marine, metocean, climate, environmental, and infrastructure sectors.We are looking for a motivated Data Science Intern who can go beyond simply processing data. The successful candidate should understand why an analysis is being performed, connect it with the broader project context, and translate complex datasets into meaningful conclusions, appropriate visualizations, geospatial outputs, AI/ML solutions, and professional technical reports.This is a growing role with significant opportunities to learn, implement, optimize, innovate, and gradually lead data-driven project activities. The selected candidate will work on real consulting assignments involving multidisciplinary technical projects and long-term datasets covering 10–20 years or more.The work may involve:Energy and operational dataMetocean and climate dataMarine traffic and AIS dataEnvironmental and infrastructure datasetsGIS and geospatial datasetsShapefiles, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, GeoTIFF, raster, vector, and coordinate dataLong-term historical, spatial, and time-series dataAI and machine-learning applicationsKey responsibilities:Understand each project’s objectives, technical context, and analytical requirementsOrganize, clean, validate, process, and analyse large and complex datasetsWork with GIS data, including shapefiles, raster and vector layers, spatial boundaries, coordinates, projections, and coordinate reference systemsPerform geospatial analysis, spatial joins, overlays, buffering, clipping, interpolation, and location-based assessmentsIntegrate GIS, time-series, environmental, marine, climate, and operational datasetsDevelop professional maps, heatmaps, density plots, route plots, spatial visualizations, charts, and analytical tablesIdentify meaningful trends, patterns, spatial relationships, anomalies, limitations, and uncertaintiesSelect appropriate analytical and visualization methods based on the purpose of the assessmentDevelop, train, validate, evaluate, and optimize appropriate AI and machine-learning modelsApply regression, classification, clustering, forecasting, anomaly detection, and predictive analysis where relevantEvaluate model performance and explain the practical meaning and limitations of the resultsTranslate analytical findings into meaningful technical conclusions and recommendationsPrepare precise and professionally written technical reports, which may range from 100 to 300 pages depending on the projectProfessionally format Microsoft Word reports, including headings, tables, figures, captions, numbering, cross-references, references, and consistent stylesMaintain well-organized Python scripts, GIS files, datasets, models, outputs, references, and project foldersAutomate and optimize data-processing, GIS, visualization, AI/ML, and reporting workflowsGradually take ownership of analytical tasks and lead defined project workstreams as capabilities developRequired skills and experience:Strong proficiency in PythonStrong practical project experience in data science, GIS, AI, and machine learningExperience with Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Scikit-learn, and related librariesExperience with GIS tools and libraries such as QGIS, ArcGIS, GeoPandas, Shapely, Rasterio, Folium, or equivalent toolsPractical experience working with shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, raster data, vector layers, projections, and coordinate reference systemsSound understanding of data cleaning, validation, processing, statistical analysis, and visualizationPractical understanding of machine-learning workflows, including feature engineering, model selection, training, validation, performance evaluation, and optimizationAbility to connect data analysis, GIS outputs, and AI/ML results with the wider project purposeExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilitiesPrecise and professional English writing skillsStrong Microsoft Word formatting and technical report-development capabilitiesExcellent attention to detail and commitment to qualityStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work independently, take ownership, and learn continuouslyKnowledge of SQL, Power BI, deep
