We’re redefining how people and technology interact, partnering with global leaders to develop next-generation AI-powered smart glasses and wearable solutions.This internship sits within TDK AIsight’s AI/ML team, directly supporting the data foundation that powers our eye-gaze and scene-understanding models across both edge and cloud platforms.About the RoleAs a Data Scientist Intern, you’ll be the hands-on engine behind TDK AIsight’s data pipeline. You’ll work directly with our proprietary smart glasses prototypes to collect eye-gaze and scene data from multiple human subjects each day, annotate and label the captured images, and clean and organize datasets so our ML engineers can train high-quality models. This is a practical, lab-oriented role ideal for someone who wants real-world experience at the intersection of hardware, data, and AI.What You’ll DoData Collection:Set up and operate data collection hardware (smart glasses prototypes) with multiple human subjects daily.Recruit, schedule, and coordinate data collection subjects; guide them through calibration and recording procedures.Transfer, organize, and back up raw data (eye camera images, world camera images, sensor logs) after each collection session.Annotation & Labeling:Annotate eye images (bounding boxes, pupil centers, landmarks) and world camera images (object detection labels) using tools such as CVAT or Label Studio.Follow and help refine annotation guidelines to maintain consistency and quality across datasets.Data Cleaning & Curation:Inspect and flag corrupt, blurry, or otherwise unusable captures; remove or re-collect as needed.Sort and organize datasets into structured directories following team conventions for file naming, metadata, and versioning.Write simple scripts to automate repetitive data processing tasks (e.g., batch renaming, format conversion, basic quality checks).Coordinate with ML Team:Work closely with ML engineers to understand data requirements for eye gaze estimation and object detection models.Maintain clear documentation of collection sessions, subject metadata, and dataset inventories.What We’re Looking ForCurrently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.Comfortable working with Python for basic scripting and data manipulation (e.g., file I/O, Pandas, NumPy).Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills — you’ll handle large volumes of data that must be meticulously tracked.Comfortable working with hardware prototypes and not afraid of hands-on lab work.Strong interpersonal skills — you’ll interact with data collection subjects daily and coordinate across teams.Proficiency in Korean; working-level English for communicating with the global ML team.Bonus Points For:Prior experience with image annotation or labeling tools (CVAT, Label Studio, Labelbox, or similar).Coursework or project experience in computer vision, image processing, or machine learning.Familiarity with Git, cloud storage platforms, or dataset versioning tools (DVC).Experience working with embedded hardware, sensors, or consumer electronics.Why Join TDK AIsightGet hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI smart glasses hardware that is not available to the public.See how your data directly powers real ML models in eye-tracking and computer vision.Collaborate with a global team across Korea, Taiwan, and the US.Potential opportunity to travel to other company sites (Taiwan, US) for data collection campaigns, subject to approval.
