Apply & track with Apply EdgeESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:• Able to work independently and develop new algorithms and signal processing workflows toanalyze sensor data.• Design, optimize and maintain data collection, storage and retrieval workflows as well as variousinterfaces to visualize complex datasets.• Perform in-depth analysis of experimental data, providing insight and guidance for furtherexperiments, as well as weekly reports/presentations.• Apply creative thinking, analysis and good judgement to propose innovative solutions totechnical problems, which may involve a range of diverse approaches and resolving conflictingissues.• Continuously improves process and work methodologies by collaborating with other teams andanalyzing current processes to identify potential improvements to workflow.• Work closely with the Microbiology and Systems engineering teams on experimental design,planning and execution to achieve project goals within targeted timelines.• Work closely with development partners to define software specifications as it pertains toprocessing and interpretation of sensor signals to ensure accurate analysis and algorithmimplementation.• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to gain new insight and extend the capabilities of existingproducts/prototypes.• Prepare and manage Test Protocols, Reports and lab notebooks.• Interface directly with management team to communicate project status, identify project issues,forecast timelines and resources.• Mentor other engineers and team members in various R&D activities and participate inrecruitment.• Support the design review and phase gate process to ensure that engineering deliverables are atthe appropriate level to meet FDA/ISO requirements & standards.• Works with internal/external partners as necessary to drive R&D forward.• Assist in the preparation and review of patent applications.• Identify and follow up on opportunities for learning and development to ensure skill set meetsevolving requirements and stay at the forefront of relevant scientific and technology areas.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:• Master’s or PhD degree in Applied Physics/Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or arelated field with 3+ years of experience in medical devices or biosensors.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:• Must have a demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas andknowledge to other individuals and teams.• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong background in thedevelopment of electrochemical biosensors.• Extensive knowledge and proven track record of biosensor design, biochemical assay experienceand prototyping.• Comfortable working with and seeking optimum solutions with other R&D engineers, as well asteam members in Microbiology and Systems Engineering.• Medical Device industry experience in design controls with a focus on user needs, intended use,system requirements, system design and traceability.• Hands-on approach to problem solving.REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:• Proficiency in Python required.• Strong data analysis skills including statistical methods and algorithm design/optimization.• Good written and oral communication skills, able to promote ideas by logical argument andcapable of presenting the results of a project in a clear, effective manner.• Instrument interface programming and electronic/measurement setup design.• Biological assay skills (ELISA, PCR) and microbiology experience are preferred.PERSONAL TRAITS:• Self-motivated with a passion for solving problems.• Independent and able to handle several projects efficiently.• Friendly, articulate and excited to work in a fun, small team environment.• Excellent record-keeping skills required.
