Data Scientist

Profectus is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Data Scientists for future opportunities across the Australian Government. The work is likely to require building statistical and machine learning models on large administrative, claims and service data sets, detecting fraud, non-compliance and risk, and turning results into reports and tools for program and compliance teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop statistical and machine learning models on large administrative data setsBuild anomaly detection, risk scoring and predictive modelsPrepare, clean and engineer features from linked data sourcesValidate, test and monitor model performance and biasPresent findings to program, policy and compliance teams in plain languageBuild reusable analysis code and notebooks under version controlWork with data engineers on data pipelines and model deploymentDocument methods, assumptions and model limitationsApply privacy, ethics and data governance requirements to analysis workRequired ExperienceMinimum five years in data science or advanced analytics rolesPython or R for statistical modelling and machine learningSQL and working with large relational data setsSupervised and unsupervised modelling, including anomaly detectionModel validation and performance monitoringPresenting analysis to non-technical stakeholdersWorking with sensitive or personal informationDesirable ExperienceHealth, claims, payments or welfare dataFraud, compliance or integrity analyticsCloud analytics platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Databricks or SAS ViyaData linkage and de-identified data setsTertiary qualification in statistics, mathematics, data science or a related fieldSecurity Clearance RequirementsMust be an Australian CitizenMust hold a current AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance (minimum)Working ArrangementsHybridCanberra preferredWhy ProfectusProfectus partners with Australian Government agencies to deliver trusted ICT capability across complex delivery programs.
