Database Engineer / DBA

About the RoleWe are looking for a Database Engineer / DBA to manage and support enterprise Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments.The role will focus on database administration, availability, performance optimization, backup and recovery, security, patching, high availability, replication, and disaster recovery. The successful candidate will provide L2/L3 technical support and contribute to database infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments.Monitor database health, availability, performance, and capacity.Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance.Manage database backup, recovery, restoration, and validation processes.Troubleshoot complex database incidents and perform root-cause analysis.Support high-availability and disaster recovery environments.Manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, SQL Server HA, replication, and related technologies where applicable.Perform database performance tuning and optimization.Support database security hardening, access controls, and compliance requirements.Manage database capacity planning and growth forecasting.Support database migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure transformation projects.Develop and maintain database operational procedures and technical documentation.Coordinate with application, infrastructure, security, and vendor teams to resolve technical issues.Participate in disaster recovery exercises and ensure database recovery objectives are met.Provide L2/L3 technical support and escalation for critical database incidents.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.4+ years of experience in database administration or database engineering.Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database and/or Microsoft SQL Server.Experience with database backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.Experience supporting enterprise production database environments.Strong understanding of database security, access management, and hardening.Experience with high availability, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.Knowledge of database monitoring and performance management tools.Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.Experience working within ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management environments.Preferred CertificationsOracle Database certificationMicrosoft Azure Database / SQL certificationOracle RAC / Data Guard training or certificationRelevant Microsoft SQL Server certificationKey SkillsOracle DatabaseMicrosoft SQL ServerDatabase AdministrationPerformance TuningBackup & RecoveryHigh AvailabilityReplicationDisaster RecoveryDatabase SecurityCapacity ManagementDatabase TroubleshootingL2/L3 Technical Support
