Database Specialist

RENECO's mission is to implement a global conservation strategy aiming to restore and preserve the Houbara bustard populations of North Africa (Chlamydotis undulata) and Asia (Chlamydotis macqueenii).To achieve these goals, RENECO has developed a multidisciplinary approach within different centers in Morocco, Central Asia, and the Arabian Peninsula by combining fundamental and applied research.To cope with the expansion of its activities and due to the development of new conservation projects, RENECO is opening new positions, giving a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious conservation program.Reneco International Wildlife Consultants is seeking a Database Specialist to support the development, optimization, and maintenance of business applications and data management solutions across the organization.Working under the functional supervision of the Senior Database Manager, you will contribute to the analysis of business requirements, implementation of data management solutions, and continuous improvement of applications supporting conservation breeding, ecology, veterinary, laboratory, and research activities. This role combines database management, business applications, data integration, business intelligence, and emerging AI technologies to support operational excellence across multiple international sites.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyse business requirements and translate operational needs into functional specifications.Support the development, configuration, and optimization of business applications and SQL Server databases.Manage technical dictionaries, application configurations, and business data structures.Perform data extraction, transformation, and consolidation (ETL) from multiple production centres.Develop SQL scripts to support data management, reporting, and data curation activities.Contribute to Business Intelligence solutions and dashboard development using Tableau.Support the implementation of AI-based solutions, including automated recognition and generative AI technologies.Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and activity reports.Deliver training and provide ongoing support to end users of business applications.Coordinate technical activities with external service providers and project partners.Participate in international missions when required.RequirementsBachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Ecology, Agronomy, Animal Science, Data Management, Computer Science, or a related field.Previous experience in database management, data processing, or business applications support.Strong knowledge of SQL Server and T-SQL.Experience in data management and data processing beyond traditional database administration.Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration.Basic knowledge of Python, R, or another programming language is an advantage.Exposure to AI technologies, Business Intelligence tools (preferably Tableau), or GIS platforms (preferably Esri ArcGIS) is considered a plus.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Interest in supporting scientific and operational activities related to conservation, ecology, veterinary, laboratory, and breeding programmes.Fluency in English is required.French, Arabic, Russian, Kazakh, or Uzbek language skills are considered an advantage.
