Employment Type: Full-timeSeniority Level: Senior LeadershipAbout the RoleVIT Bhopal University is seeking an accomplished senior leader to strengthen its academic and research ecosystem in Computer Science, emerging technologies, and interdisciplinary research.We are looking for candidates with a strong background in academia, research, or industry R&D who can provide strategic leadership, strengthen academic and research outcomes, develop high-performing teams, and build meaningful collaborations with industry and leading research institutions.Depending on the candidate's experience and expertise, the role will have a strong focus on academic leadership in Computer Science and/or institution-wide research leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership for academic and research initiatives in Computer Science and allied technology domains.Strengthen academic quality, curriculum, pedagogy, and programme development in line with emerging developments in technology and industry.Build and mentor high-performing faculty and research teams.Strengthen the University's research culture and improve the quality and impact of research outcomes.Drive research publications, externally funded projects, patents, technology development, innovation, and interdisciplinary research.Develop collaborations with leading universities, research institutions, industry, government organizations, and funding agencies.Promote industry-academia collaboration and facilitate translation of research into real-world applications.Identify and develop capabilities in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Computing Systems, and other advanced technology domains.Support the development of research infrastructure, Centres of Excellence, laboratories, and interdisciplinary research programmes.Contribute to the University's long-term academic and research strategy.Candidate ProfileWe welcome senior candidates with either a strong academic Computer Science background or a distinguished research/R&D leadership background.Academic Leadership ProfileCandidates primarily being considered for Computer Science academic leadership should have:Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.Minimum 15 years of experience in academia.Strong academic and research credentials.Demonstrated experience in academic leadership, faculty development, curriculum development, research supervision, and institution building.A strong understanding of contemporary and emerging areas of Computer Science.Research / Industry Leadership ProfileCandidates with significant research or industry experience may also be considered based on the strength of their research and innovation credentials.Significant experience in research, technology development, engineering, innovation, or R&D leadership.Candidates may come from academia, research institutions, or industry.Ph.D. with substantial industry/R&D experience is preferred.Distinguished industry professionals without a Ph.D. may also be considered where they demonstrate an exceptional track record in research, innovation, patents, technology development, or leadership of significant R&D programmes.Experience building research teams, industry-academia collaborations, funded programmes, research laboratories, or technology initiatives will be highly valued.Desired Leadership AttributesThe successful candidate should demonstrate:Strong strategic and institution-building capabilities.Ability to lead and mentor senior academics, researchers, and technical teams.Strong understanding of the evolving technology and research landscape.Ability to establish relationships across academia, industry, government, and the broader research ecosystem.A commitment to high-quality academics, impactful research, innovation, and measurable institutional outcomes.Candidates with a demonstrated ability to bridge academia, research, and industry and build sustainable research and academic ecosystems are particularly encouraged to apply.
