Apply & track with Apply EdgeDean Liberal Arts at a Leading University, BangaloreRole Overview | Higher Education LeadershipThe Dean of Liberal Arts will provide strategic academic leadership and oversee the planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of academic programmes across the institution, with a focus on Philosophy, Humanities, English, and related disciplines. The role involves strengthening academic excellence, promoting research and innovation, enhancing faculty capabilities, and contributing to the institution’s long-term academic growth and reputation. The Dean will work closely with institutional leadership, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and other stakeholders to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, research, and academic governance.Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership: Provide strategic direction for academic planning, programme development, and academic activities across Philosophy, Humanities, English, and related disciplines.Curriculum Development: Lead the design, review, and continuous improvement of curricula in line with emerging academic trends and national and international standards.Academic Governance: Ensure compliance with UGC guidelines, regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and established academic procedures.Faculty Development: Support faculty recruitment, performance evaluation, academic mentoring, professional development, and capacity-building initiatives.Research and Innovation: Promote research, scholarly publications, funded projects, and interdisciplinary collaboration across Philosophy, Humanities, English, and related fields.Teaching and Learning Excellence: Encourage innovative teaching methodologies, outcome-based education, critical thinking, effective communication, and student-centred learning.Quality Assurance: Strengthen academic quality through programme reviews, assessments, accreditation processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.Student Development: Enhance student learning outcomes, academic progression, mentoring, critical thinking, analytical abilities, and communication skills.Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Encourage collaboration across Philosophy, Literature, English, Social Sciences, and other disciplines to develop multidisciplinary academic programmes.Institutional Development: Contribute to strategic planning, academic expansion, institutional partnerships, and strengthening the institution’s academic reputation.Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with academic institutions, research organisations, industry partners, and other relevant stakeholders.Desired Candidate ProfilePh.D. in Philosophy, English, Humanities, or a related discipline from a recognized university.Significant academic and administrative experience in higher education, preferably in a university or multidisciplinary academic institution.A strong track record in academic leadership, curriculum development, faculty management, and institutional development.Demonstrated experience in research, scholarly publications, funded projects, and academic collaborations.Sound understanding of UGC regulations, academic governance, quality assurance, and accreditation frameworks.Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills.Ability to lead multidisciplinary academic teams and drive academic excellence.Key CompetenciesStrategic academic leadershipAcademic planning and governanceFaculty development and mentoringResearch and scholarly excellenceCurriculum design and quality assuranceInterdisciplinary collaborationStakeholder engagement and institutional development
