Dean of AcademicsOak Valley College is a WASC Accredited private Christian nonprofit college with campuses in Rialto and Santa Ana, California. Through its innovative Bachelor of Arts in Business, students complete a rigorous, cohort-based degree in two years and eight months while graduating with no student loans. Position SummaryThe Dean of Academics at Oak Valley is a unique role blending leadership, teaching, program development, and administrative skills. It is an ideal position for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset and detail-oriented experience. It is a role that requires an independent self-starter. The position is self-contained, meaning there is limited administrative support provided to the role.Serving as the College's chief academic officer, the Dean facilitates the Faculty Senate, ensures academic quality, and directs faculty development, assessment, accreditation, student success, and career preparation.Reporting directly to the President, the Dean works collaboratively with faculty and staff to ensure that Oak Valley College delivers an academically rigorous, Christ-centered educational experience while advancing the College's strategic mission.The Dean is expected to have an active presence on campus, engaging with students and faculty. Core office hours are 9am-5pm, Monday-Thursday in Rialto with a few trips to Santa Ana each semester, and a regular teaching load of 2-3 courses per year. Academic Administration and Quality AssuranceRecruit, orient, mentor, supervise, and manage 15+ adjunct facultyFacilitate course and program assessmentsConduct biennial program reviewPrepare for reaffirmation of WASC AccreditationMonitor student achievement and implement strategies to improve outcomesFoster a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvementProvide vision for the academic program ensuring alignment with Oak Valley’s mission, vision, and valuesPrepare IPEDS and WASC reportsManage progressions of academic achievements to ensure students are career-readyEngage with students and student leaders to identify new initiatives and program opportunities Manage academic program budgetsFacilitate 3-5 faculty development workshops per yearReview end of semester assessment data and implement strategies to foster student successImplement academic interventions and services to support student successFacilitate regular meetings with the Academic Affairs Committee (Board of Trustees Committee), Faculty Senate, and Academic Review BoardRepresent the College to external constituenciesSupport enrollment initiativesEngage in strategic planningCollaborate with the Dean of Students to support student activities and engagementRequired QualificationsGraduate degree from an accredited institutionHigher education teaching experienceFive years of progressively responsible leadership experienceExperience supervising faculty or staffExcellent written, verbal, organizational and project management skillsPreferred QualificationsDoctoral degreeHigher education leadership experienceExperience with accreditation and/or program reviewsCurriculum assessment experienceExperience serving first-generation college studentsCareer services or student success leadershipAs a mission-driven nonprofit institution, Oak Valley College seeks individuals who are called to Christian higher education and are motivated by the opportunity to transform students' lives.
