Team members can expect to work within a structured environment that values operational discipline, safety, and collaboration across shore-based and onboard roles.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Deck Officer role based in Jendouba. The Deck Officer will oversee the safe navigation and operation of the vessel, including planning and monitoring voyages, maintaining charts and navigational equipment, and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations. Daily responsibilities include supervising deck crew, organizing and monitoring cargo operations, conducting safety drills, and maintaining safety and security procedures on board. The role also involves keeping accurate logs and records, inspecting safety and firefighting equipment, and coordinating with the engine department and shore-side teams to support efficient vessel operations. The Deck Officer is expected to uphold high standards of seamanship, contribute to a safety-focused culture, and support continuous improvement in shipboard practices.Qualifications Candidates should possess strong navigation and seamanship skills, including voyage planning, watchkeeping, and use of modern navigational systems and instruments.Candidates should possess safety management and emergency response skills, including familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and conducting safety and security drills.Candidates should possess cargo handling and deck operations skills, including supervision of loading/unloading, stowage, mooring operations, and deck maintenance.Candidates should possess leadership and communication skills to effectively supervise deck crew, coordinate with onboard departments, and collaborate with shore-based teams.Candidates should possess strong organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining logs, records, checklists, and compliance documentation.Relevant maritime certifications such as Officer of the Watch (OOW) or equivalent license, STCW-compliant training, and valid medical fitness certificate are required or highly preferred.Experience working on commercial vessels or in a similar deck officer capacity is beneficial, as well as familiarity with international and local maritime regulations.Ability to work in an on-site, shipboard environment in Jendouba, demonstrating resilience, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and teamwork.
