Located in Bloomfield, NJ, The Smile Express is committed to high-quality clinical standards and a welcoming experience for every patient.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Dental Assistant role based in Bloomfield, NJ. The Dental Assistant will support dentists and orthodontists during patient procedures, including preparing treatment rooms, organizing instruments, and assisting chairside with exams, cleanings, and treatments. Daily responsibilities include preparing and sterilizing equipment, maintaining patient records, reviewing medical histories, and helping patients feel comfortable and informed about their treatment. The role also involves taking and processing dental radiographs as permitted, setting up and breaking down operatories, managing supplies, and supporting front-desk staff with scheduling or patient flow when needed. The Dental Assistant will contribute to a safe, clean, and family-friendly environment while working collaboratively with the clinical team.Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in Dental Assisting and Dentistry, supporting providers with chairside procedures and basic clinical tasks.Candidates should possess skills in Dental Care and Oral Care, including patient education on oral hygiene, preventative care, and post-treatment instructions.Candidates should possess skills in Sterilization and infection control, maintaining clean and safe treatment areas and handling instruments according to protocols.Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent experience is preferred; current dental assistant certification or registration as required by New Jersey regulations is beneficial.Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary clinical team.Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow clinical instructions and safety procedures; comfort with basic computer and dental software systems.CPR certification and experience in pediatric or orthodontic settings are a plus.
