Joining Westfort Family Dental means contributing to accessible, high-quality dental care in the local community.Role Description The Dental Assistant at Westfort Family Dental supports dental providers in delivering efficient, safe, and patient-centered care. This full-time, on-site role is based in Thunder Bay, ON and involves preparing treatment rooms, organizing instruments, and assisting during dental procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities include seating and comforting patients, reviewing basic medical information, supporting dental exams and treatments, and maintaining strict infection control and sterilization protocols. The Dental Assistant also helps with charting, documenting procedures, and ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is ready for use. Collaboration with the dental team and clear communication with patients are essential to the role.Qualifications Strong foundational knowledge in Dental Care, Dentistry, and Oral Care to support a wide range of patient treatments.Demonstrated skills in Dental Assisting, including chairside support, patient preparation, and treatment room setup.Proficiency in Sterilization practices and infection control protocols to maintain a safe clinical environment.Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program and current relevant certification or registration (as required by provincial regulations).Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work respectfully with patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds.Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow clinical procedures and dental provider instructions accurately.Comfort using dental software for charting, scheduling, and documentation is an asset.CPR/First Aid certification and prior experience in a dental or healthcare setting are considered beneficial.
