- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant
- Strong chairside assisting skills and knowledge of dental procedures
- Experience with Dentrix or another dental Practice Management Software (PMS)
- Comfortable with digital X-rays, charting, and maintaining accurate patient records
- Excellent communication and patient-care skills
- Organized, dependable, proactive, and able to anticipate the needs of the doctor
- Strong infection-control and sterilization knowledge
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- A positive attitude and team-first mentality

Team members are encouraged to collaborate, grow their skills, and contribute to a welcoming environment for patients and colleagues.Role Description This full-time, on-site Dental Assistant role is based at Pike District Smiles in North Bethesda, MD. The Dental Assistant supports dental providers during examinations and procedures, prepares and organizes treatment rooms, and ensures instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained. Daily tasks include assisting with chairside procedures, taking and recording patient histories, explaining basic oral care instructions, and helping manage patient flow to keep the schedule on track. The role also includes documenting treatments in patient records, handling basic administrative support such as confirming appointments, and contributing to a clean, safe, and welcoming clinic environment. Team members collaborate closely with dentists, hygienists, and front office staff to provide consistent, high-quality patient care.QualificationsDemonstrated skills in Dental Assisting, including chairside support and patient preparation.Knowledge of Dental Care and Dentistry principles, with the ability to support common procedures.Understanding of Oral Care practices and the ability to provide clear home-care instructions to patients.Experience with Sterilization procedures and maintaining a safe, compliant clinical environment.Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent on-the-job training preferred.Current dental assistant certification and applicable state licenses or registrations (or eligibility to obtain them) in Maryland.Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills in a clinical setting.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with patients and team members from diverse backgrounds.Comfort with basic dental software and digital record-keeping; willingness to learn new systems.Commitment to infection control, patient safety, and continuous professional development.
