Dental Hygienist duties revolve around conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth (e.g. removing plaque) and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. Helps dentists to decide treatments for teeth or gum diseases and handle dental emergencies.Functional Responsibilities:Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the CARE Hospitals and Clinics.Patient screening procedures such as;Assessment of oral health conditionsReview of the health historyOral cancer screeningHead and neck inspectionDental chartingPerforms oral prophylaxis and gives oral hygiene instructions to the patients.Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-ray).Maintenance of the materials, equipment and cleanliness.Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth.Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g. sealants and fluorides).Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene.Counseling patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health.Taking impression of patient teeth.Performing documentations and office management activities.Maintains and periodically reviews skill learned in First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation; handles medical emergencies until the Dentist arrives on the scene or assists the Dentist in rendering emergency first aid until additional medical help is available.Charts accurately the findings of the patient’s oral conditions; records the treatment rendered in the patient’s permanent chart.Coordinates with the reception and encoder for charges, arranging appointments and other necessary paper work.Participates in on-going education monthly as developed by the department.Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and procedure including documentation in patient medical record.They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.Abides by the department policies and procedures, by-laws, rules and regulations of the Insurance Hospital.Complies with hospital dress code.Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.Education/Licensure2 years diploma of higher education in dental hygiene or equilent.Professional License from Saudi Council for Health Specialties.Valid Certification of Basic Life Support (BLS)Minimum Work Experience:RequiredMinimum one (1) years’ experience Post Qualification.Current working knowledge in related specialty.Demonstrates safe & correct use of specific unit-based equipment’s.Skills & Competencies:Good in spoken and written English.Be able to speak and understand Arabic Language.Ability to work in multi-cultural environment.Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.Good in customer care, able to work in multidisciplinary teamsKnowledgeable in computer applications.He / She must be creative, flexible and have critical thinking skills.Must have good personal hygiene and be well groomed at all time.
