Design & Estimating Coordinator - SignspecOwn the tempo of a busy signage design and estimating team. This is a driver's role, not a desk job.The short versionSignspec designs, draws and quotes signage for the construction industry. We're good at work. What we need now is one person to hold the whole thing together- to run the timing of every job, absorb the reschedules, and make sure the client always feels looked after. You'll have real line authority to make that happen. If you're the sort of person who finds a blown-up schedule clarifying rather than stressful, keep reading. If you like calm, predictable process, this isn't your role -and we mean that as kindness to both of us.What the job actually isConstruction moves. Deadlines shift, clients change their minds, and the "can you just" request lands at 4pm on a Thursday. Your job is to be the single brain that holds the entire pipeline and re-sequences it in real time — deciding what gets done, in what order, by when, and by whom. You will own the timing and flow of every activity in the department: design, drawing, quoting, and everything in between. You'll set priorities and due dates, expedite what needs expediting, and keep every job visible and current so the boss can see the state of play immediately. You will not normally be the one deciding how a sign gets detailed or what a quote comes to - our technical people own that. You own when it's due, that it hits the customer standard, and that nothing falls through the cracks.Think air traffic control, not administration. What you'll ownLine authority over priorities, deadlines and workflow across the teamThe live job board — every job visible, prioritised and currentRe-sequencing the pipeline when the schedule changes (which is often)Being the internal engine of client responsiveness: fast turnaround, no client left feeling like an afterthoughtHolding skilled people to their commitments - firmly, fairly, and without dramaWho we're looking forThree things matter above all else, and we'll be screening hard for them:Drive and grip under pressure. You impose order on chaos and you're energised by it. A torn-up schedule is a problem to solve, not a reason to freeze.Presence and authority. You can carry weight with skilled, opinionated technical people and be taken seriously without raising your voice.Customer instinct. You have a natural read on what makes a client feel prioritised, and you take ownership of that feeling - not just the logistics. Background we valueYou'll need enough technical literacy to understand the work, sequence it sensibly, and know when a timeline doesn't add up. You do not need to be a signage expert- that you'll pick up fast. We'll happily talk to strong coordinators from any tender-driven, drawing-and-quoting environment: signage, steel fabrication, shopfitting, joinery, a multi-skilled design house, or similar technical trades. Signage experience is a bonus, not a requirement. If your background is in coordination that has nothing to do with technical delivery under deadline pressure, this probably isn't the fit - and you'll likely feel that yourself. What's in it for youA role with genuine authority and genuine impact. You won't be a nag with no teeth - you'll have the mandate and the backing to run the department's tempo and be the reason it runs well. If you want a job where your organising ability visibly moves the needle, this is it.How to applyDon't send us a generic cover letter. Instead, tell us this:Walk us through the worst, most chaotic week you ever managed. What blew up, what you did, and how it landed. That answer will tell us more than any CV.
