The candidate will be responsible for designing mechanical components and systems, performing design calculations, preparing detailed drawings, and supporting the Design & Engineering team from concept to manufacturing.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop complete mechanical designs for industrial equipment and machinery.Perform mechanical design calculations for components, assemblies, shafts, structures, drives, and other machine elements.Prepare and review 2D and 3D mechanical designs using Autodesk Inventor.Develop part drawings, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, layouts, and GA drawings.Select appropriate materials, components, dimensions, and design parameters based on engineering requirements.Perform calculations related to strength, load, stress, torque, power, speed, dimensions, and other mechanical parameters.Create and modify 3D models and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor.Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials) and manufacturing documentation.Ensure designs meet required dimensions, tolerances, fits, GD&T, and engineering standards.Review designs for manufacturability, assembly, performance, and cost effectiveness.Coordinate with Production, Fabrication, Project, Purchase, and Site teams for design-related requirements.Resolve design, manufacturing, and fabrication-related technical issues.Make design modifications and revisions based on engineering and production requirements.Maintain proper drawing numbering, revision control, design calculations, and technical documentation.Support the engineering team during installation, commissioning, and site-related technical issues, whenever required.Required SkillsB.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.Strong knowledge of mechanical design and engineering calculations.Good working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor.Strong knowledge of 2D drafting and 3D modelling.Good understanding of machine design, mechanical components, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, fits, and engineering standards.Ability to perform and understand mechanical design calculations.Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings.Knowledge of material selection and manufacturing methods.Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an added advantage.Preferred ExperienceExperience in heavy machinery, industrial equipment, steel processing equipment, rolling mills, fabrication, machine design, or engineering projects will be preferred.Key Focus of the RoleThe candidate should be capable of handling complete mechanical design activities, including concept development, design calculations, component selection, 3D modelling, detailed drawings, BOM preparation, and design validation, rather than only preparing drawings.
