Apply & track with Apply EdgeMechanical Design Engineer Department: Engineering / Design Experience: 3–5 Years Employment Type: Full-TimeAbout the RoleWe are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our design and manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in 2D and 3D CAD design, with a strong understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes. This role involves converting concepts and requirements into detailed, manufacturable designs, working closely with production, procurement, and project teams to ensure designs are functional, cost-effective, and deliverable within project timelines.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment using CAD software.Prepare GA (General Arrangement) drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs (Bill of Materials) for manufacturing.Perform design calculations to ensure structural integrity, functionality, and safety of components.Select appropriate materials, standard parts, and manufacturing processes based on design and cost requirements.Coordinate with the production/shop floor team to resolve design-related manufacturing issues.Support procurement by specifying bought-out components and reviewing vendor drawings.Incorporate design changes based on customer feedback, site conditions, or manufacturing constraints.Maintain design documentation, revision control, and drawing standards.Participate in design reviews and provide technical inputs for cost optimization and manufacturability (DFM/DFA).Support site engineers during installation/commissioning with design clarifications, if required.Required Skills & QualificationsDiploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).3–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design within a design and manufacturing / OEM environment.Strong proficiency in 3D and 2D detailing in AutoCAD.Good understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and engineering drawing standards.Working knowledge of sheet metal, fabrication, machining, and welding processes.Familiarity with material selection, standard parts (bearings, fasteners, gears, etc.), and design calculations.Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications.Preferred (Good to Have)Experience with structural/mechanical design calculations or basic FEA.Exposure to project-based manufacturing (custom equipment, capital goods, or heavy machinery).Knowledge of PLM/PDM systems for drawing and revision management.Soft SkillsStrong problem-solving and analytical thinking.Good communication skills to coordinate across design, production, and procurement teams.Ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet project deadlines.Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
