About the Dream Realization LabThe Dream Realization Lab (DRL) is the product development team within Dhahran Techno Valley Company (DTVC). We turn ideas and technologies into functional, well-engineered prototypes across a wide range of industries - from energy and industrial systems to consumer devices and smart solutions. Our work spans concept validation and feasibility studies through to detailed design and working prototypes, delivering manufacturable designs and prototype documentation before the industrialization phase begins. We are a small, fast-moving team that is growing, and every engineer here contributes meaningfully to every project they work on.The RoleWe are looking for a Design Engineer who is as comfortable behind a screen as they are building with their hands. This is not a pure CAD role. You will work across the full development arc - from early concept exploration and feasibility to detailed design, prototyping, and testing - collaborating closely with Electrical, Controls, and Industrial Design colleagues to deliver integrated solutions. Projects at DRL are varied, timelines are tight, and the problems are often novel. You will need to figure things out. What You Will DoDesign and ModellingDesign 3D parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, producing clean parametric models and detailed engineering drawingsApply DFM, DFA, and DFR principles throughout to ensure designs are manufacturable, assemblable, and serviceablePerform tolerance analysis and generate GD&T-annotated drawings for internal fabricationDesign against multi-disciplinary constraints, translating inputs from Electrical, Controls, and Industrial Design into mechanical solutions that meet the requirementsPrototyping and MakingBuild, test, and iterate physical prototypes hands-on using FDM, resin, and metal 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, and manual fabricationUse 3D scanning and reverse engineering workflows to digitize existing components or physical referencesPlan and carry out structured testing to validate design decisions, and iterate quickly based on resultsCollaboration and Problem SolvingActively contribute to improving how the lab works - proposing better tools, workflows, and processes as the team growsBreak down complex, ambiguous multi-disciplinary challenges into structured engineering problems and drive them to validated solutionsDevelop creative mechanical mechanisms and design solutions - many of our challenges do not have off-the-shelf answersDocumentationProduce complete engineering documentation: drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, and design rationale recordsWrite clear technical reports covering design decisions, test results, and prototype documentation to support handoffMaintain organized CAD file structures and revision control throughout the project lifecycleWhat We Are Looking ForExperienceA degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development Engineering, or a related fieldSeveral years of hands-on experience in a product development, R&D, or prototyping environmentA background where engineering standards are high: consumer electronics, industrial equipment, medtech, robotics, or similarA track record of delivering physical prototypes, not just drawingsTechnical SkillsProficiency in SolidWorks; general knowledge of 3D modelling in other tools is a plusStrong 3D part design skills with both additive and subtractive design thinkingHands-on experience with rapid prototyping methods: 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, scanningAbility to produce detailed drawings with tolerances and GD&TExperience with FEA or CFD simulation tools is beneficial but not requiredPersonal QualitiesStrong communicator - you can clearly convey technical ideas to colleagues across different disciplinesHands-on and curious - equally energized by a CAD model and a workshop buildProblem-solver who can work through novel challenges without a defined playbookOrganized and self-directed, able to manage your own workload across multiple projectsA team player who thrives in a small, dynamic, and fast-moving environment
