Design Manager Infrastructure

I’m working with an international engineering and design consultancy that is growing its UAE operation and looking to add an experienced Design Manager.The role is suited to someone who has spent time in a multidisciplinary consultancy environment and is comfortable sitting across technical delivery, client coordination and design management on complex projects.Projects will span major infrastructure, transport, buildings and mixed-use developments, with the Design Manager working across architecture, structures, civil, MEP and specialist disciplines.The remit will include:Taking the lead on design coordination across multiple technical disciplinesManaging design delivery against programme, quality and client requirementsWorking directly with clients, consultants, contractors and statutory authoritiesReviewing technical information and identifying coordination, buildability and compliance issuesManaging design changes, technical queries and unresolved interfaces across the project teamOverseeing design reviews, BIM coordination and model-based workflowsSupporting authority submissions and helping drive approvals through the relevant stagesWorking with project management and commercial teams on programme, resource and fee considerationsManaging technical risk and ensuring key issues are identified earlySupporting value engineering and option studies where requiredHelping plan design resources and priorities across live projectsContributing technical input into proposals and new project opportunitiesThey are looking for:12+ years’ experience in design management, engineering management or technical project deliveryAt least 5 years’ experience working in the GCCStrong understanding of UAE design approvals and authority processesExperience on large, technically complex, multidisciplinary projectsGood knowledge of BIM-led coordination and common document management systemsStrong client-facing experienceGood understanding of programme, change control, technical risk and the commercial impact of design decisionsA relevant Engineering, Architecture or Construction-related degreeProfessional chartership or membership with a recognised industry body would be preferred, and PMP would be useful.The role can be based in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.If you’re currently working as a Design Manager, Senior Design Manager or Engineering Manager within a multidisciplinary consultancy and would like to hear more, send me a message.
