As we continue expanding, each new location is developed with a strong emphasis on design, functionality, construction quality, and the details that make the space feel distinctly Sunny’s.We are currently developing our newest location at The Domain in Austin, and we are looking for a motivated student or emerging professional to work directly with Sunny’s Director of Development throughout the build-out process.The OpportunityThis is not a traditional internship where you spend the semester observing from the sidelines.You will be directly involved in bringing a restaurant from concept to opening.Working closely with the Director of Development, you will serve as Sunny’s on-the-ground project representative in Austin, helping oversee the design, construction, vendor coordination, purchasing, and finishing details of the new location.The position offers hands-on exposure to interior design, architecture, construction, project management, procurement, business operations, and hospitality development, all within a single real-world project.You will see firsthand how drawings, finishes, contractor proposals, budgets, design decisions, and construction ultimately come together to create a finished restaurant.What You’ll DoAssist with the development and build-out of Sunny’s new location at The DomainVisit the project site regularly and document construction progressCoordinate with contractors, trades, vendors, designers, and suppliersRequest, organize, and compare multiple contractor and vendor quotesHelp evaluate pricing, scope of work, materials, and project alternativesMonitor ongoing work to ensure it aligns with approved plans and design intentPerform quality-control walkthroughs and identify items requiring correctionProvide regular project updates, photos, measurements, and field information to the Director of DevelopmentAssist with interior design decisions, finish selections, furniture, fixtures, artwork, décor, and stylingSource products and materials that meet Sunny’s design, durability, budget, and operational requirementsHelp solve the inevitable field conditions and design challenges that come with building a restaurantAssist with final installation, punch-list completion, and preparation of the restaurant for openingWho We’re Looking ForThis position is especially well suited for students studying:Interior Design

- Related Design FieldsThe ideal candidate is someone who:Has a strong eye for design and attention to detailIs organized, dependable, and comfortable taking initiativeCan communicate professionally with contractors and vendorsIs comfortable visiting an active construction siteCan identify when something does not match drawings, specifications, or design intentIs willing to research solutions rather than simply identify problemsHas an interest in understanding both the creative and business sides of developmentIs comfortable working independently while maintaining frequent communication with the Director of DevelopmentPrevious construction or professional design experience is not required. Curiosity, judgment, organization, and willingness to learn matter more.Why This Role Is DifferentMost early-career positions expose you to one small piece of a project. This position gives you visibility into almost the entire process.You may be reviewing a finish selection one day, comparing contractor bids the next, walking the construction site to inspect work, sourcing furniture or décor, discussing a field modification, or helping prepare the restaurant for opening.By the end of the project, you will have participated in the actual development of a commercial hospitality space and gained experience spanning design, architecture, construction, procurement, budgeting, vendor management, and business operations.Most importantly, your work will actually be built.LocationThe Domain | Austin, TexasThe position requires regular in-person availability at the Austin project site and close communication with Sunny’s Director of Development.
