(MHFA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure all Miami-Dade residents have a safe, affordable place to call home. We seek an experienced, strategic, and relationship-driven development professional to lead fundraising efforts and a culture of philanthropy at MHFA. The Development Director will take ownership of the full development function while working in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. They will also manage the Development Manager towards success in his/her workplan. The Development Director will help build and champion a culture of philanthropy across MHFA, ensuring that fundraising is understood and embraced as a shared responsibility across the organization. The Director is someone who knows how to open doors, build systems, and grow something meaningful. They will be vital in advancing MHFA’s mission to address affordable housing and homelessness in Miami-Dade County. The ideal candidate is passionate about social equity, highly organized, and eager to contribute to impactful change in the community. RESPONSIBILITIES: Fundraising and Donor RelationsLead MHFA’s major donor initiative, the Keyholders. Manage the Development Manager in supporting this initiative. The Director will manage a portfolio of individual donors through year-round mission-driven opportunities, and he/she will lead project management of others in the organization as they pursue their own portfolio. This includes creating systems that streamline our approach and activities.Lead donor communications strategy, including acknowledgment processes, appeals, thank-you letters, impact reports, and recognition events.Lead prospect research and drive the cultivation and solicitation process.Build and manage a major gifts pipeline, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardshipPlan and execute Give Miami Day efforts, including a peer-to-peer fundraising model to increase donations. Grant Writing and ManagementManage and support the Development Manager to conduct research and identify funding opportunities. Lead the research, writing, and submission of grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and corporate funders.Maintain compliance with all grant requirements and ensure on-time delivery and reporting. This includes managing the full grant calendar and all funder relationships. Board StewardshipPartner with the Executive Director and Development Manager to engage, steward, and activate board members in the organization's fundraising efforts. Coordinate board-related development activities and help cultivate a culture of philanthropy at the board level. Event CoordinationFoster a culture of philanthropy across MHFA, helping every team member understand their role in donor relationships and mission storytelling. Equip and support staff, leadership, and volunteers to participate confidently in donor cultivation, stewardship, and gratitude by coordinating mission-driven opportunities throughout the year.Lead the development strategy for MHFA’s events. Manage fundraising event logistics, including vendor coordination, volunteer recruitment, and on-site operations.Assist in post-event analysis and reporting to measure success. 5. Database and Administrative Management.Maintain donor and stakeholder records in MHFA’s Bloomerang database.Generate reports and analyze fundraising data to identify trends and opportunities.Provide administrative support to the Development Department and Executive Director as needed.Build systems and processes that make the development function scalablePrograms and Community EngagementCollaborate with program staff to align fundraising efforts with programs.Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and other public forums. Champion donor-centered practices and ensure that appreciation and demonstrated impact are woven into how the organization operates day to day.Assist in developing materials and presentations to educate stakeholders about the organization’s work.Identify and pursue strategic corporate partnerships aligned with MHFA’s mission.Develop compelling sponsorship packages and manage sponsor relationships from pitch through renewal. QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree. Degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field preferred but not required.At least 7 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related role preferred.Demonstrated track record of closing grants, cultivating major donors, or securing corporate sponsorships.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in grant writing preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strategic thinker who can build a plan, manage a pipeline, and deliver results.Experience working with a board of directors and engaging volunteers in fundraising.Experience fostering a culture of philanthropy and engaging colleagues across an organization in the shared work of fundraising.Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang, DonorPerfect) or related database and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Commitment to the mission of affordable housing and homelessness advocacy. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Work Environment. This position typically requires a combination of remote, office-based, and fieldwork. Occasional out-of-town travel may be required for conferences, site visits, and events.Benefits.
