Job PurposeThe DevOps Manager is responsible for leading the DevOps function and establishing scalable, reliable, secure, and automated software delivery practices across the organization.The role owns and continuously improves CI/CD, GitOps, container platforms, developer enablement, deployment automation, and related DevOps tooling while working closely with Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, QA, and Architecture teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop the DevOps engineering team and provide strong technical leadership.Own the organization’s CI/CD strategy, standards, tooling, and engineering practices.Design, operate, and continuously improve GitLab-based software delivery pipelines.Lead Kubernetes-based application deployment practices across development, testing, staging, and production environments.Establish and improve GitOps practices using technologies such as Argo CD.Standardize build, test, security scanning, release, deployment, and rollback processes.Drive Infrastructure as Code and automation to reduce manual operational activities.Build reusable CI/CD templates, deployment patterns, and engineering standards for development teams.Improve developer experience through self-service capabilities, automation, documentation, and standardized platform services.Work with Software Engineering and QA teams to integrate automated testing and quality gates into delivery pipelines.Work closely with Cybersecurity to implement DevSecOps controls, including SAST, SCA, container scanning, secrets management, and security gates.Establish proper separation of duties and controlled production deployment processes.Improve application observability by integrating monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting into the software delivery lifecycle.Ensure high availability, scalability, resilience, and recoverability of DevOps platforms and services.Define and track engineering and delivery metrics, including DORA metrics, deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, and recovery time.Support incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement of production delivery processes.Evaluate and introduce new DevOps and platform engineering technologies where they provide measurable value.Manage DevOps platform capacity, licensing, vendors, upgrades, lifecycle, and technical roadmap.Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, standards, and operational procedures.Mentor engineers and establish a culture of automation, engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.7+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or related disciplines.2+ years of experience leading technical teams.Strong hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD or comparable enterprise CI/CD platforms.Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker/container technologies.Experience with GitOps and Argo CD or similar technologies.Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation.Experience with Linux administration, networking fundamentals, scripting, and automation.Experience with cloud and private-cloud environments such as OpenStack, OCI, GCP, AWS, or Azure.Understanding of software engineering practices, branching strategies, release management, and SDLC.Good understanding of application security and DevSecOps practices.Experience with observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar platforms.Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service engineering capabilities is highly desirable.Preferred Technical SkillsGitLab CI/CDKubernetesDocker / ContainerdArgo CD / GitOpsHelmTerraform / OpenTofuAnsibleLinuxBash / Python / GoPrometheus & GrafanaSentry / OpenTelemetrySecrets managementArtifact and container registriesPreferred CertificationsRelevant certifications such as CKA, CKAD, GitLab Certified, KCNA, HashiCorp Terraform, AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI certifications, or equivalent are preferred.Key CompetenciesStrong technical leadershipAutomation-first mindsetPlatform engineeringProblem solving and troubleshootingReliability and operational excellenceSoftware delivery and release engineeringCross-functional collaborationCoaching and team developmentContinuous improvement
