Platform Engineer – LondonI’m working with a highly technical organisation in London that is looking for a Database Platform Engineer to help build and evolve the database services used across a large engineering environment.What you’ll be working on:Running and scaling database platforms across on-prem and cloud environmentsWorking with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL and other modern database technologiesAutomating provisioning, upgrades, replication, monitoring and other operational processesImproving reliability, performance, capacity and resilience across critical database servicesWorking with Linux, Python, Terraform, Ansible and modern infrastructure toolingSupporting services running across AWS, containers and KubernetesTroubleshooting database performance, replication, indexing and query issuesWhat makes the opportunity interesting:You’ll be working on database services used across a large and technically demanding engineering environmentThe role combines database engineering with DevOps, SRE and platform engineering rather than traditional DBA workThey’re particularly interested in people who have operated databases at scale and understand how to automate and improve themStrong DevOps or Platform backgrounds with solid database experience would be very relevantYou don’t need to be a software developer, but some Python or scripting experience for automation is importantYou’ll get exposure across multiple database technologies, cloud, Kubernetes, observability and infrastructure automationThis would suit someone from a DevOps, SRE or Platform Engineering background who has spent a lot of time working with databases and wants to make that the main focus of their role.
