Position SummaryThe Director, ASNT Foundation serves as the Foundation’s dedicated staff leader, translating Board-approved strategy into disciplined fundraising, partnership, program, research, communications, and engagement activity. The role leads day-to-day Foundation work while leveraging ASNT’s shared-service infrastructure and collaborating closely with ASNT leadership and departmental teams.The Director collaborates with the Strategic Growth and Partnerships Team on corporate relationship strategy and helps steward Foundation-related partner opportunities. The Director also supports the Board of Trustees and its committees, builds relationships with donors and volunteers, coordinates mission programs, and demonstrates Foundation impact through clear reporting.Essential ResponsibilitiesFundraising, Partnerships, and External Relations· Implement the Board-approved fundraising plan and translate annual goals into a practical development calendar, work plan, and performance dashboard.· Build and manage a qualified pipeline of major-gift, leadership-giving, individual donor, and Foundation-aligned corporate prospects, collaborating with the Strategic Growth and Partnerships Team where corporate relationships are involved.· Cultivate, solicit, close, acknowledge, and steward gifts and Foundation-related partnership commitments in coordination with Trustees, ASNT leadership, staff, and the Strategic Growth and Partnerships Team.· Prepare donor proposals, cases for support, briefings, pledge documentation, stewardship reports, impact stories, and Foundation-related partner materials.Programs, Board Support, Communications, and Operations· Coordinate Foundation scholarships, grants, research, workforce development, and related mission programs, including application, review, award, payment, reporting, budget, schedule, and outcome tracking.· Serve as primary staff liaison to the Board of Trustees and support committees through agendas, decision materials, dashboards, schedules, action tracking, Trustee engagement, and follow-up.· Collaborate with ASNT marketing and communications staff on campaigns, donor communications, digital content, annual reporting, public relations, and conference activation.· Develop the annual Foundation operating plan, program calendar, and proposed budget; monitor spending, revenue, forecasts, risks, and resource needs in coordination with the COO, CFAO, and relevant staff.· Maintain appropriate donor, prospect, program, grant, contract, and governance records and ensure Foundation activities follow Board policies, gift restrictions, agreements, internal controls, and applicable charitable requirements.Authority and Role BoundariesThe Director is accountable for day-to-day execution and coordination within approved strategies, budgets, policies, and delegated authority. The role supports, but does not replace, the governance authority of the Board of Trustees or the executive and shared-service responsibilities assigned to ASNT leadership and departments. Material risks, policy questions, financial variances, strategic conflicts, and capacity constraints should be escalated through appropriate management and governance channels.Required Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.· Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising, association management, foundation administration, corporate fundraising, workforce development, education, research programs, or a related field.· Demonstrated experience with fundraising or relationship development, volunteer management of boards or committees, strategic management, budget management, and program management.· Highly collaborative work style with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders.· Strong written, presentation, interpersonal, facilitation, judgment, discretion, and follow-through skills; ability to travel for Board meetings, ASNT events, donor meetings, and industry engagement.Preferred Qualifications· Experience with a professional or trade association, affiliated charitable foundation, CRM or donor management systems, scholarships, grantmaking, applied research, technical professions, or relevant credentials such as CAE or CFRE.Core Competencies· Fundraising execution, corporate fundraising support, relationship development, and donor stewardship· Strategic, budget, program, portfolio, and operational management· Highly collaborative, cross-functional partnership with volunteers, boards, committees, staff, and external stakeholders· Clear communication, persuasive storytelling, financial and data literacy, accountability, adaptability, and ethical stewardshipFirst-Year Priorities· Complete an orderly transition of Foundation leadership, records, relationships, commitments, and active work.· Establish an annual operating plan, development calendar, Board dashboard, recurring reporting cadence, and clear action tracking.· Demonstrate measurable progress against the approved fundraising plan, including a qualified major-gift and Foundation-aligned corporate prospect pipeline developed in collaboration with the Strategic Growth and Partnerships Team where corporate relationships are involved.· Strengthen donor stewardship, deliver programs on schedule and within approved resources, improve shared-service coordination, support Trustees effectively, produce clear impact reporting, and identify risks early with actionable recommendations.Working RelationshipsThe Director works closely with the ASNT Foundation Board of Trustees; ASNT’s Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, executive leadership, and departmental teams; Foundation committees and volunteers; donors and prospects; corporate and education partners; scholarship and grant applicants and recipients; researchers; contractors; and industry stakeholders.Physical and Travel RequirementsThe position requires regular computer and virtual meeting work, effective participation in in-person meetings and events, and periodic travel.
