Director – Development Monitoring Location: LondonSector: Major DevelopmentCapstone Recruitment is working with a leading London consultancy looking to appoint an Associate Director / Director to support the delivery of a major 500,000+ sq ft commercial development.The project is currently in early concept design and involves significant technical complexity across the base build, façade, structural / cut-and-carve works and MEP.The RoleThe role will have a strong focus on the technical and construction delivery of the development, working closely with the client, contractor and wider consultant team.Key responsibilities will include:Base-build development monitoringDesign management and coordinationFaçade and structural worksMEP coordination and oversightTechnical quality and buildabilityIdentifying scope gaps and package interfacesContract administrationProgramme and commercial oversightClient, consultant and contractor managementYou’ll need to be comfortable getting into the technical detail, identifying potential issues early and confidently challenging consultants and contractors while advising the client on the right course of action.BackgroundThis search is not limited to candidates from a traditional Project Management background.We’re interested in speaking with people from:Design Management / Main ContractingArchitectureCivil / Structural EngineeringBuilding SurveyingDevelopment MonitoringTechnical Project ManagementA Senior Design Manager, Design Lead or Technical Manager with strong client-facing and commercial experience could be particularly well suited.The PersonThe key requirement is a strong understanding of how complex buildings are designed and constructed, combined with commercial awareness and the confidence to operate directly with senior clients.You’ll be technically credible, collaborative and comfortable taking ownership, while working closely with the wider project team.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical construction background who has developed broader project, commercial and client responsibility and is ready to move into a senior consultancy position.
