Director of Computational Biology - for globally successful, top-10 pharma seeking an IC computational biology leader to join in Boston or Philadelphia!Join a global biopharmaceutical organization focused on discovering and delivering innovative medicines and transforming outcomes for patients with serious diseases. As the Director of Computational Biology, you will provide scientific and strategic leadership across oncology translational medicine, driving the application of computational biology, AI/ML, biomarker analytics, and emerging diagnostic technologies. You will leverage advanced approaches including oncology foundational models, multi-modal omics, real-world data, computational pathology, and complex clinical datasets to inform biomarker, diagnostic, and clinical development strategies. This highly visible role will partner across clinical development, translational research, diagnostics, computational sciences, and AI/ML teams to translate complex biological data into actionable insights. The position offers the opportunity to shape innovative approaches to precision medicine and advance the development of next-generation oncology therapies and diagnostics.Job DutiesLead innovation in computational biology and emerging diagnostic technologies, including oncology foundational models, AI/ML, ctDNA, computational pathology, advanced imaging, and multi-modal biomarker platforms.Develop and apply advanced analytical and modeling approaches to complex clinical, real-world, and high-dimensional datasets, including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and cfDNA.Provide scientific leadership for biomarker discovery and diagnostic strategies supporting patient stratification, dose selection, mechanism-of-action insights, and combination therapy development, including antibody-drug conjugates.Collaborate across clinical development, translational research, diagnostics, clinical pharmacology, modeling and simulation, and AI/ML teams to integrate complex data and advance translational medicine strategies.Lead evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies, communicate complex analytical findings to senior and non-technical stakeholders, and support external partnerships and business development due diligence.Job RequirementsPhD or equivalent experience/training in computational biology, bioinformatics, machine learning, computational pathology, or a related discipline.7+ years of applied experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or academic research, with a focus on oncology, diagnostic innovation, computational biology, and/or biomarker analysis.Advanced knowledge of statistical and analytical methods for complex, high-dimensional, heterogeneous datasets, with experience applying AI/ML and computational approaches to biomarker research.Strong technical experience with GitHub, R Shiny/R Markdown, cloud or high-performance computing environments, and preferably R and Python, bioinformatics databases, and related computational tools.Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, communicate complex scientific concepts effectively, and drive strategic decisions and impactful outcomes; oncology clinical development experience and an MD are highly desirable.To learn more, please apply to this job!
