Director – Global Markets AI📍 Hong Kong | 💰 Up to HKD 4.0M Total CompensationA leading global investment bank is making a significant investment in AI across its Global Markets business and is seeking a Director to help build and scale its AI capability in APAC.This is a rare opportunity to shape a growing AI function within the Investment Bank, delivering cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions across Front Office Markets with direct commercial impact.Sitting within a centralised Quantitative Analytics team, you'll work closely with Trading, Quant Research and Engineering to identify, develop and deploy AI solutions that enhance trading performance and business decision-making.We're looking for technical AI leaders who have remained close to the technology and enjoy solving complex ML problems—not purely strategic or programme management profiles.We're particularly interested in professionals from:Investment Banking Quantitative ResearchElectronic TradingMachine Learning / AI ResearchSystematic Hedge FundsMarket MakersAlpha ResearchDeepTech / AI-first organisations (e.g. Meta, Microsoft, Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, Huawei, etc.) with an interest in Financial MarketsKey ResponsibilitiesLead the delivery of AI/ML initiatives across Global Markets.Partner directly with traders, quants, engineering teams and senior business stakeholders.Own end-to-end AI programme delivery, from ideation and research through to production deployment and governance.Apply advanced AI techniques including:Machine LearningDeep LearningGenerative AI / LLMsPrice ForecastingRecommender SystemsReinforcement LearningDecision-making under uncertaintyEstablish Proof of Concepts within FX before scaling across additional asset classes.Drive best practice across responsible AI, model governance and production AI deployment.Mentor and help build a growing AI capability within Global Markets.RequirementsStrong technical AI/ML expertise with the ability to remain hands-on where required.Proven experience delivering production AI/ML solutions in complex environments.Experience leading end-to-end AI initiatives from research through deployment.Strong quantitative or computational background.Markets, Investment Banking or Systematic Trading experience is highly desirable.Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work directly with Front Office businesses.A technical leader who has remained close to the technology rather than moving into purely strategic or programme management roles.Experience building or mentoring technical AI teams.Hong Kong-based or willing to relocate.This is a high-profile, strategically backed opportunity offering the chance to help shape the future AI agenda within one of the world's leading Global Markets businesses.📩 For a confidential discussion, please contact: tg@barclaysimpson.com
