Director – Investment Banking (Capital Markets)Location: New York, NY (Remote)About the RoleJames Search Group is partnering with a boutique investment bank focused on lower to middle market companies to hire a Director in New York City. This is a senior, execution-focused role with significant responsibility across capital markets transactions, including private placements, PIPEs, SPAC-related transactions, growth equity raises, bridge financings, and IPOs, alongside selective M&A mandates.The Director will play a critical role leading deal execution, managing client relationships, and driving transaction processes from origination through close. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with founders, management teams, and institutional investors in a highly entrepreneurial, hands-on environment.About the ClientOur client is a well-established boutique investment bank specializing in capital raising and strategic advisory for lower middle market companies, typically ranging from $10M–$150M in enterprise value. The firm is known for its high-touch approach, strong investor network, and ability to execute complex transactions for founder-led and closely held businesses.What You’ll Be DoingLead execution of capital markets transactions, including private placements (equity and debt), PIPEs, SPAC/de-SPAC transactions, bridge financings, and IPO processesServe as day-to-day lead on live deals, managing timelines, workstreams, and junior team members (Analysts/Associates)Oversee development of financial models, valuation analyses, and transaction materials, ensuring accuracy and qualityDrive preparation of investor-facing materials, including pitch decks, CIMs, management presentations, and offering documentsManage investor outreach processes, including coordination with private equity firms, hedge funds, family offices, and credit investorsLead due diligence processes, data room management, and Q&A coordination with investors and counterpartiesParticipate in and lead client meetings, investor calls, and negotiations alongside senior leadershipSupport business development efforts, including pitch preparation and identifying new opportunities within existing relationshipsProvide strategic guidance to clients on capital structure, valuation, and transaction positioningWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (MBA is a plus)6–10+ years of experience in investment banking or capital markets, with strong exposure to private placements, PIPEs, SPACs, or other structured financingsProven track record of leading transaction execution and managing multiple live deals simultaneouslyAdvanced financial modeling and valuation skills, including capital structure and dilution analysisStrong experience developing and reviewing high-quality client and investor materialsExisting relationships with institutional investors (private equity, hedge funds, family offices, credit funds) is a strong plusExcellent communication and client management skills, with the ability to operate as a trusted advisorDemonstrated leadership experience managing and mentoring junior team membersEntrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating in a lean, fast-paced environmentWhy This RoleLeadership role with direct impact on deal execution and client relationshipsHigh exposure to capital markets transactions, including PIPEs and SPACsOpportunity to work closely with founders and senior decision-makersFlat, entrepreneurial team structure with strong upward mobilityCompetitive base salary, performance-based bonus, and comprehensive benefitsEqual Opportunity EmployerOur client is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.How to ApplyTo apply or learn more, please submit your resume or contact James Search Group directly.
