Director – IT Project Management Office (PMO)

Position SummaryThe Director of IT PMO leads the enterprise Project Management Office for a retail client, overseeing the governance, execution, and delivery of technology initiatives across stores, digital commerce, supply chain, merchandising, and corporate systems. This role ensures disciplined project delivery, strategic alignment with business priorities, and measurable value realization from IT investments. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and drives operational excellence across the technology portfolio.Key Responsibilities1. Portfolio Governance & Strategic AlignmentOwn and manage the enterprise IT project portfolio covering POS modernization, e‑commerce, ERP, supply chain, loyalty, and store operations.Lead annual and quarterly roadmap planning, ensuring alignment with merchandising, store operations, digital, and corporate functions.Establish governance frameworks, approval processes, and prioritization models to ensure investments support business outcomes.2. Delivery Excellence & Methodology LeadershipDefine and enforce PMO standards, methodologies, templates, and best practices (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, hybrid).Ensure consistent execution across all retail technology initiatives, including large‑scale store rollouts and omnichannel programs.Drive continuous improvement, operational maturity, and delivery efficiency across the PMO.3. Financial & Vendor ManagementManage PMO budgets, forecasting, resource planning, and financial reporting.Oversee vendor relationships, including system integrators, SaaS providers, and retail technology partners.Ensure cost optimization, contract compliance, and value realization from external partners.4. Risk, Compliance & Change ManagementIdentify, assess, and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, store system outages, and omnichannel dependencies.Lead enterprise change management for technology impacting store associates, customers, and corporate teams.Ensure compliance with IT policies, audit requirements, and industry standards.5. Stakeholder & Executive CommunicationProvide clear, concise, executive‑level communication on portfolio health, risks, dependencies, and business impact.Partner closely with CIO, COO, merchandising, store operations, digital, product, engineering, and finance leaders.Act as the voice of the PMO and a strategic advisor for technology‑enabled business transformation.6. Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, program managers, and PMO analysts.Build a high‑performance culture focused on accountability, transparency, and delivery excellence. Manage resource allocation across competing priorities and multi‑year initiatives.
