Apply & track with Apply EdgeAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Director – Cyber Security to lead and strengthen the organisation’s cyber threat detection, intelligence, prevention, and response capabilities.This is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive cyber threat security strategy across a highly digital, technology-driven environment. The successful candidate will lead teams responsible for identifying emerging threats, improving detection and response capabilities, managing cyber incidents, and protecting critical systems, applications, data, and digital services.The role will work closely with senior technology, information security, risk, compliance, and business leaders to ensure the organisation remains resilient against an evolving threat landscape.Key ResponsibilitiesCyber Threat Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and execute the organisation’s overall Cyber Threat Security strategy and roadmap, aligned with business and technology objectives.Provide strategic direction across cyber threat intelligence, threat detection, incident response, security monitoring, and threat hunting.Lead and develop high-performing cybersecurity teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and security excellence.Act as a senior cybersecurity advisor to technology and business leadership on emerging cyber threats and associated risks.Threat Detection, Intelligence & HuntingEstablish and mature capabilities for cyber threat intelligence, threat hunting, detection engineering, and security monitoring.Oversee the identification, analysis, and prioritisation of emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and threat actors.Translate threat intelligence into actionable security controls, detection use cases, and preventive measures.Drive continuous improvement of detection capabilities across endpoints, networks, cloud environments, applications, identities, and other critical technology assets.Incident Response & Cyber ResilienceProvide executive leadership during significant cybersecurity incidents and major threat events.Ensure effective incident response processes, playbooks, escalation mechanisms, and post-incident reviews are in place.Lead initiatives to improve the organisation's ability to detect, contain, investigate, and recover from cyber attacks.Partner with relevant technology and business teams to strengthen cyber resilience and minimise business impact during security incidents.Security Operations & TechnologyOversee the effectiveness and maturity of Security Operations capabilities, including SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, threat intelligence platforms, detection and response technologies, and related security tooling.Evaluate and drive adoption of modern cybersecurity technologies and automation.Establish appropriate security metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to measure threat detection and response effectiveness.Identify opportunities to leverage automation, analytics, and emerging technologies to improve security operations.Risk, Governance & Stakeholder ManagementPartner with Enterprise Security, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Privacy, and other stakeholders to manage cyber risks effectively.Ensure cybersecurity capabilities and processes are aligned with relevant regulatory, industry, and security standards.Support security assessments, audits, regulatory engagements, and major technology initiatives where required.Present cyber threat trends, security risks, incidents, and mitigation strategies to senior management and executive stakeholders.Third-Party & Ecosystem SecurityWork with relevant teams to assess and address cyber risks associated with third-party providers, technology partners, and external ecosystems.Strengthen intelligence-sharing and collaboration with external security communities, industry partners, and relevant cybersecurity organisations.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.12+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, cyber threat intelligence, security operations, incident response, or related disciplines.Proven experience in a senior cybersecurity leadership role, preferably within a large, complex, highly digital, technology-driven, financial services, fintech, telecommunications, e-commerce, or similarly regulated environment.Strong experience leading cybersecurity teams and managing large-scale security operations or cyber threat programmes.Demonstrated experience in threat intelligence, threat hunting, detection engineering, incident response, SOC operations, and cyber defence.Strong understanding of modern attack techniques, threat actor behaviours, vulnerabilities, and the evolving cyber threat landscape.Experience developing cybersecurity strategies, operating models, roadmaps, and transformation programmes.Strong understanding of cloud security, identity security, endpoint security, network security, application security, and security monitoring.Experience working with executive stakeholders and presenting complex cybersecurity risks and recommendations to senior leadership.Strong understanding of relevant cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, ISO 27001, and related security practices.Preferred CertificationsRelevant professional certifications are highly desirable, such as:CISSPCISMGIAC certificationsCertified Ethical
