Girl Talk Development Director Job Description Girl Talk, Inc. – Knoxville, TN Girl Talk, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that empowers girls to become their best selves through reducing the likelihood of teenage pregnancy and increasing the likelihood of educational advancement.Position SummaryGirl Talk, Inc. is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Development Director to lead the organization’s fundraising, donor relations, and development efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director is responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategies that strengthen donor relationships, diversify revenue, and generate sustainable funding to support Girl Talk’s mission, operations, and growth.This position requires a strong relationship builder who can think strategically, execute effectively, and take ownership of fundraising goals and results.Essential ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute Girl Talk’s annual development and fundraising plan.Establish and meet annual fundraising goals in partnership with the Executive Director.Identify, cultivate, solicit, steward, and retain individual, corporate, and foundation donors.Build and maintain an active pipeline of prospective donors and funding opportunities.Develop strategies to increase donor retention, engagement, and giving.Maintain consistent communication and relationships with current and prospective donors.Create fundraising appeals, sponsorship materials, donor communications, newsletters, and solicitation materials.Research funding opportunities, write grant proposals, and ensure timely submission of grant reports and renewals.Manage donor records and fundraising activity within the organization’s CRM.Lead fundraising strategy, sponsorships, donor engagement, and planning for the annual Girl Talk Gala.Coordinate donor cultivation, appreciation, and fundraising events.Develop and implement social media and marketing strategies that support fundraising, donor engagement, and organizational visibility.Track and regularly report fundraising activity, donor pipeline, revenue secured, and progress toward annual goals.Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board, and staff on donor cultivation, solicitations, and organizational funding priorities.Stay informed of fundraising trends and opportunities within the nonprofit and philanthropic community.Perform other duties as assigned.Fundraising Performance ExpectationsThe Development Director is accountable for generating sustainable contributed revenue and demonstrating a measurable return on Girl Talk’s investment in the position.Within the first 12–18 months, the Development Director is expected to generate and/or retain contributed revenue equal to at least the fully loaded annual cost of the position. Thereafter, the position is expected to generate revenue exceeding its annual cost and contribute meaningfully toward Girl Talk’s annual fundraising and growth goals.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.5+ years of fundraising, development, donor relations, or related nonprofit experience preferred.Demonstrated experience cultivating donors and generating contributed revenue.Grant writing experience.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Ability to think strategically and effectively execute a plan.Strong initiative, creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.Ability to self-organize, prioritize, and manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor/CRM systems.Additional QualificationsCommitment to excellence and Girl Talk’s mission.Warm, professional, relationship-oriented personality.Comfortable building relationships and making fundraising asks.Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.Ability to receive feedback and continuously improve performance.Reliable, timely, and accountable.Willingness to collaborate across the organization and contribute beyond the immediate scope of the position when needed.Position DetailsJob Type: Full-Time | Hybrid Schedule – WFH 2 days a week | Occasional Nights and Weekend work required | Health | Dental | Vision Benefits | Retirement Benefits Please submit resumes via email to denetria@girltalkinc.com | No phone calls please
