Director of Engineering

Minfy is hiring a Director of Engineering to lead technical delivery across all of our Australia and New Zealand engagements — cloud migration, application and data modernisation, data platforms, AI, and the emerging agentic AI work that's starting to reshape what customers ask us for.This is the senior technical role in the region. It's hands-on, customer-facing, and accountable for whether what we deliver actually works.About MinfyMinfy is an applied AI and technology services company with deep AWS, cloud, data and engineering capability. We're an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner and Managed Service Provider, supporting customers from advisory and migration through modernisation, AI implementation and ongoing managed operations. Our engineering bench spans multiple geographies; this role leads the technical front line in ANZ and connects it to that wider capability.The opportunityOur ANZ portfolio spans the full arc of enterprise cloud work. A customer lands with a migration, moves into modernisation, discovers their data foundations won't support what they want next, and by the following year is asking for agentic systems that touch production. The same technical judgement has to hold across all of it.You'll own that judgement. Architecture standards, delivery quality, technical escalation, engineering practice and the senior technical relationship with customers — across every project we run in the region. You'll lead the hardest engagements personally, set the patterns the rest reuse, and build the Australian engineering team as the portfolio grows.You'll work closely with AWS solution architects and partner teams, with our Australian sales team on pursuits, and with delivery leaders across the group.This is a builder's role. The ANZ practice is early by design — you'll shape how it works rather than inherit something fixed.What you'll doOwn technical delivery across the full ANZ portfolio — migration, application and infrastructure modernisation, data platforms, AI and agentic AISet and enforce architecture standards, engineering practice and quality gates across all engagementsLead solution architecture on complex pursuits — discovery through design, estimation and statement of workStay hands-on: review designs and code, unblock teams, and take personal delivery lead on the engagements that warrant itOwn technical escalation and delivery health across projects — scope, schedule, quality and delivery riskBuild and grow the Australian engineering team, and partner with our offshore delivery teams so the two operate as oneDevelop reusable reference architectures, accelerators and delivery patterns across migration, modernisation, data and AISet the bar on security, cost efficiency, observability, testing and production readinessAct as senior technical authority with customers, including executive and CIO-level stakeholdersWork with AWS solution architects, field teams and partner stakeholders on joint technical planning and co-sellSupport pre-sales with credible technical positioning, feasibility assessment and honest delivery risk judgementFeed delivery learning back into how Minfy sells, scopes and staffs work in the regionWhat you'll bringSignificant engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership in consulting, services or enterprise environmentsBreadth across the delivery lifecycle — you've led migrations and modernisation programmes, not only greenfield buildsDeep AWS expertise across compute, networking, security, data and AI servicesStrong data engineering foundations — pipelines, warehousing and lakehouse architecture, streaming, governance and qualityPractical experience taking AI and ML workloads into production, including LLM-based and generative AI systemsGenuine interest in agentic AI and a realistic view of where it works today and where it doesn'tDemonstrated ability to lead engineers and raise engineering standards, not only to architect on paperConfidence with customers: you can hold a technical conversation with a CIO and a code review with a senior engineer in the same daySound commercial judgement — you understand effort, risk and what a realistic estimate looks likeComfort in a fast-moving environment where the playbook is still being writtenNice to haveExperience at AWS, an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner or a comparable cloud consultancyAWS certifications at Professional or Specialty levelBackground working with distributed or offshore delivery teamsExperience in regulated Australian or New Zealand industries — financial services, health, government or utilities
