As Director of Engineering Platform Services, you will build a new platform organization from the ground up, defining its technical vision, architecture, engineering standards, and operating model. This highly hands-on leadership opportunity will enable multiple brands and businesses through reliable, reusable services supporting high-volume B2C applications and future B2B capabilities.Responsibilities:Define and execute the long-term Platform Services strategy while balancing foundational investments with evolving product and business priorities.Build and scale a new platform organization, establishing architecture, processes, standards, and reusable technical capabilities.Design and evolve scalable services, APIs, integration patterns, and microservices for multiple brands, products, and internal and external consumers.Provide hands-on technical leadership across system design, architecture reviews, implementation decisions, and platform-wide risk management.Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, CloudOps, and business stakeholders to translate priorities into executable roadmaps.Hire, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams and technical leaders while improving developer productivity and engineering effectiveness.Drive operational excellence through standards for reliability, performance, observability, security, automated testing, resiliency, and disaster recovery.Lead incident response, establish engineering and operational metrics, and champion AI-assisted development and engineering automation.Must-Have Skills:12+ years of technical leadership experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-level B2C applications.8+ years of people management experience building, developing, and scaling engineering teams.Demonstrated experience building or leading Platform Services or comparable shared platform organizations, preferably in a greenfield or early-stage environment.Deep expertise in platform, service-oriented, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture.Strong API design and scalability experience, including secure APIs serving internal, external, public, and partner consumers.Hands-on experience with asynchronous communication patterns, SQL and NoSQL databases, and high-traffic systems.Proficiency designing and delivering cloud-native applications using GCP and/or AWS, DevOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure as code.Strong understanding of reliability, observability, security, performance engineering, automated testing, resiliency, high availability, and disaster recovery.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.Nice-to-Have Skills:Experience in travel technology, hospitality technology, hotel, lodging, accommodation, reservation, booking, or online travel marketplace platforms.Experience supporting multi-brand, multi-product, enterprise-scale, high-volume consumer platforms.Exposure to GraphQL, API gateways, API management platforms, event-driven architecture, and external API product strategy.Experience expanding primarily B2C platform capabilities into B2B use cases.Background introducing generative AI, AI-assisted development, engineering automation, or modern developer productivity tooling.Experience establishing engineering KPIs, architectural decision records, operational metrics, and succession planning.Knowledge of corporate IT policies, procedures, security standards, and compliance practices.
