We partner with communities, donors, corporations, institutions and the wider Habitat network to advance safe, resilient and affordable housing and related development outcomes.Position PurposeThe Senior Director - Resource Development will provide enterprise-level leadership for Habitat for Humanity India's fundraising, resource mobilisation, donor engagement and income diversification agenda. The role is accountable for designing and delivering an ambitious annual and multi-year revenue strategy across corporate and CSR partnerships, foundations, institutional donors, major donors and HNWIs, individual and digital giving, diaspora engagement, public sector opportunities and the wider Habitat network.As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the incumbent will play a central role in strengthening organisational sustainability, influencing strategic choices, and positioning HFH India as a trusted partner for high-impact, scalable housing and community development solutions. The role requires a seasoned fundraising leader who combines strategic judgment, executive presence, disciplined revenue management, ethical partnership practice and the ability to build a high-performing resource development function.Key Accountabilities1. Strategic leadership and financial sustainabilityTranslate the Country Strategy into a robust three-to-five-year resource mobilisation roadmap, supported by annual channel plans, revenue targets, investment priorities and measurable performance indicators.Improve the quality, predictability and resilience of income by increasing unrestricted, flexible, multi-year and cost-recovered funding while reducing dependence on any single donor, channel or geography.2. Fundraising strategy and revenue deliveryOwn and deliver the Board/AOP-approved annual fundraising target, with clear channel-wise targets, quarterly milestones, conversion ratios and management review mechanisms.Build and manage a balanced portfolio spanning corporate and CSR philanthropy, corporate foundations, domestic and international foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies, PSUs, HNWIs, major gifts, individual and digital giving, diaspora fundraising and Habitat network opportunities.Develop compelling, scalable and mission-aligned funding propositions that combine donor priorities, programme evidence, brand credibility, volunteer engagement and measurable social impact.Drive growth in unrestricted, flexible and multi-year funding to strengthen organisational sustainability and strategic investments.3. Donor portfolio, acquisition and stewardshipLead senior-level cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, closing, renewal and stewardship of priority donors, strategic partners and high-value accounts.Institutionalise donor segmentation, account planning, relationship mapping, senior sponsorship and stewardship standards to improve acquisition, retention, renewal and upgrading.Represent HFH India with credibility and confidence before CEOs, CSR leaders, foundations, philanthropists, institutional donors, government-linked entities, sector platforms and Habitat global stakeholders.Lead negotiation of strategic partnerships, MoUs and donor agreements to ensure alignment with organizational policies, implementation capacity, compliance requirements and risk management standards.4. Pipeline, forecasting, CRM and analyticsMaintain a disciplined, stage-based opportunity pipeline with clear value, probability, owner, next action and expected closure date.Provide reliable monthly and quarterly forecasts, dashboards and early escalation of target, conversion or concentration risks.Drive effective use of CRM and donor data for portfolio management, performance measurement and management decision-making.5. Programme positioning, proposals and donor reportingPartner closely with Programmes, MEAL, Finance and Communications to develop investible programme propositions that are evidence-based, financially sound and aligned with HFH India's strategic priorities.Oversee the development of persuasive concept notes, proposals, pitches and partnership documents; personally lead flagship, complex, competitive and high-value opportunities.Ensure donor reporting is timely, accurate, impact-oriented and coordinated across programme results, financial utilisation, compliance commitments and stewardship messaging.6. Cross-functional, regional and global collaborationWork closely with Programs, Finance, Communications, Advocacy & Partnerships and Volunteer Programmes to build integrated donor propositions and engagement plans.Collaborate with HFHI, Asia-Pacific and GFOI/RD teams to develop solicited and unsolicited opportunities and leverage the wider Habitat network.Ensure strong internal hand-offs from opportunity development through contracting, implementation, reporting and renewal.7. Governance, compliance and revenue qualityEnsure all fundraising and partnership practices comply with applicable Indian laws and regulations, including CSR and FCRA requirements where relevant, donor due diligence, conflict-of-interest standards, safeguarding, anti-fraud, data privacy and brand protocols.Strengthen proposal governance by ensuring realistic budgets, appropriate direct and indirect cost recovery, cash-flow planning, risk assessment, internal approvals and clear implementation commitments before submission or contracting.Protect HFH India's reputation by applying sound ethical judgement on donor acceptance, partnership alignment, public positioning and reputational risk.Provide strategic oversight of donor agreements and funding arrangements to ensure appropriate financial sustainability, compliance, cost recovery, operational feasibility and risk management considerations are addressed prior to commitment.Ensure no funding opportunity is pursued or accepted without adequate due diligence, implementation feasibility assessment and financial sustainability review.8. Team and budget leadershipBuild, coach and lead a high-performing RD team with clear channel ownership, targets, review rhythms and development plans.Strengthen capability in donor mapping, proposal development, negotiation, stewardship, analytics and collaboration.Manage the RD departmental budget and recommend investments in people, campaigns, events, systems or specialist support based on expected impact and ROI.Add accountability for building a strong fundraising talent pipeline and succession planning within the RD function.Education and ExperienceMaster's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, marketing, social sciences, development studies or a related field is preferred; exceptional senior-level experience may be considered.Minimum 15-20 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, resource mobilisation, strategic partnerships, philanthropy, institutional funding or relevant business development, preferably in the social impact, development or nonprofit sector.At least seven years in a senior leadership role with responsibility for teams, budgets, revenue strategy, donor relationships and significant annual fundraising targets.Proven track record of securing, managing and renewing multi-crore partnerships with corporates, CSR programmes, foundations, institutional donors, public sector entities, HNWIs or major philanthropists in India.Strong understanding of India's CSR, corporate foundation, philanthropy, bilateral/multilateral, PSU and development-funding ecosystem, including emerging funding mechanisms such as the Social Stock Exchange and impact investment.Demonstrated ability to build donor pipelines, lead complex proposals, negotiate partnership terms, ensure cost recovery, manage compliance requirements and steward long-term donor relationships.Experience engaging with Foundations, Organisations and Institutions (FOI), international NGO networks, diaspora philanthropy, digital/individual giving or major gifts will be an added advantage.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present confidently to Boards, CEOs, senior donor representatives, government-linked stakeholders and global network leaders.If this role excites you, please apply to resume@socialsynthesis.in
