Director of Global Procurement

Company Summary:Trimlite is a Private-Equity owned manufacturer of decorative door-lites, stile and rail doors and a wholesale distributor of doors, millwork and building material related products to the building trade. We are looking to fill our open position for Director of Global Procurement. Position Summary:The Global Procurement Director is responsible for developing and executing the company's global sourcing and procurement strategy to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable acquisition of goods and services. This leader drives supplier performance, negotiates strategic agreements, manages procurement teams, mitigates supply chain risks, and partners with business stakeholders to support organizational growth and operational excellence for both North America and Asia.Key Responsibilities: Strategic LeadershipDevelop and implement a global procurement strategy aligned with corporate objectives.Develop and optimize strategic partnerships with suppliers & distributors including supplier consolidation, SKU rationalization, volume-based pricing, rebates, overall pricing strategies and diversity. Lead category management, strategic sourcing, supplier selection, and contract negotiations across global markets.Establish procurement policies, processes, and governance frameworks.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize supply chain performance and procurement efficiency.Partner with executive leadership to align procurement priorities with business growth plans.Develop corporate sourcing structure to maximize value creation through pricing and resource rationalization:Centralized, where standardization and scale create significant savings.Hybrid, corporate negotiates contracts while local sites order as needed.Localized, items that require regional sourcing or unique site requirements. Supplier & Vendor ManagementBuild and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and partners.Evaluate supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards, and regular business reviews.Manage supplier risk, compliance, sustainability, and business continuity programs.Identify and qualify alternative sources to reduce dependency and improve resilience.Lead supplier innovation and value-engineering initiatives. Cost Management & SavingsDeliver annual cost reduction and cost avoidance targets.Analyze spending patterns and market trends to identify savings opportunities.Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and long-term agreements.Manage total cost of ownership (TCO) initiatives across procurement categories.Support budgeting and forecasting activities. Supply Chain & Risk ManagementMonitor global market conditions and supply chain disruptions.Develop contingency plans to address sourcing challenges.Ensure compliance with regulatory, trade, and ethical sourcing requirements.Manage procurement support during mergers, acquisitions, and business expansions. Team LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop regional and global procurement teams.Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Establish performance metrics and succession planning for procurement talent.Promote cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Finance, Legal, Quality, and Supply Chain teams. Technology & AnalyticsLead procurement digital transformation initiatives.Utilize ERP, eProcurement, spend analytics, and supplier management tools.Establish reporting dashboards to monitor savings, supplier performance, and procurement effectiveness.Leverage market intelligence and data analytics to support sourcing decisions. Procurement Collaboration: Inventory and Demand PlanningCollaborate to optimize inventory levels to support sales growth while limiting working capital requirements.Participate in executive sales, inventory, and operational planning (S&OP) process and ensure cross-functional alignment with sales, marketing, supply chain and finance. Align with all initiatives to improve inventory levels via the demand forecasting process in order to maintain proper seasonal levels of A, B, C and D movers.Support product life cycle management, so that new and existing products can be optimally integrated into the supply chain and capacity management plan. Quality ControlIn conjunction with the Quality Assurance team and third-party supply partners, define and enforce contractual supplier obligations and issue resolution processes for all unqualified purchased parts and an interim part acceptance plan with our suppliers.Support Sales Managers and the Quality Assurance team in the execution and adherence of APQP principles prior to the release of purchase orders and sale of new products. Experience and Qualifications:Proven success leading growth-oriented mid-sized company’s sourcing function toward a more structured, efficient, and strategy-driven operating model.Proven success transforming inefficient procurement structure & practices into optimal performing system across multiple business units.Experience dealing with high mix, low volume products sourced from Asia.Experience managing Asia-based vendors & supply chains.Previous negotiating, contracting, and/or sourcing experience, as well as an understanding of supplier capabilities and marketplace.Experience with sales, inventory, and operational planning (S&OP) processExperience in the development, deployment and execution of procurement, demand forecasting, inventory planning, inventory control and distribution systems.High level of integrity and ethics.Strong negotiation skills.Experienced in ‘lean’ techniques.Strong business acumen.
