Director of InfrastructurePosition OverviewWe are seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of IT Infrastructure to lead an enterprise healthcare technology operation. You will spearhead the critical legacy modernization strategy, transitioning from mainframe systems to modern, scalable cloud environments. This role oversees a patient-centric infrastructure footprint spanning cloud platforms, virtualized environments, core networking, and secure hosting. You will manage a high-performing engineering team and mature our service delivery frameworks using ITIL/ITSM best practices.Key ResponsibilitiesHealthcare Modernization & Cloud StrategyLead legacy migration: Drive the strategy and execution of migrating core healthcare workloads and electronic health record (EHR) data from mainframe environments to public cloud architectures.Architect AWS infrastructure: Design, deploy, and optimize scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS cloud environments tailored for healthcare storage and applications.Manage hybrid hosting: Oversee clinical data center operations, colocation services, and hybrid cloud hosting strategies.Infrastructure Engineering & OperationsOversee virtualization: Supervise enterprise virtualization platform engineering, performance tuning, and capacity planning for mission-critical medical applications.Manage server ecosystems: Standardize, secure, and lifecycle Windows and Linux server infrastructures across clinics, hospitals, and administrative sites.Direct network architecture: Ensure the high availability, low latency, redundancy, and security of global WAN, LAN, and cloud networking environments.Compliance, Service Management & LeadershipEnforce healthcare compliance: Ensure all infrastructure, hosting, and data transmission protocols strictly adhere to HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST, and other industry regulations.Advance ITSM framework: Implement and mature ITIL processes including incident, problem, change, and configuration management (CMDB) to maximize uptime for patient care systems.Define SLAs and KPIs: Set, monitor, and report on clinical infrastructure performance, system uptime, and service delivery metrics.Lead and mentor teams: Provide strategic direction, technical mentorship, and performance management to a diverse team of engineers and administrators.Manage budget and vendors: Optimize capital and operational expenditure (CapEx/OpEx) budgets and negotiate major healthcare technology vendor agreements.Required QualificationsExperience: Minimum of 8–10 years in IT infrastructure management, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role within the healthcare industry.Migration Expertise: Proven track record of managing complex, large-scale mainframe-to-cloud or mainframe-to-distributed-systems migrations.Cloud Proficiency: Deep technical knowledge of AWS cloud services, AWS healthcare-specific solutions (e.g., AWS HealthOmics, AWS HealthImaging), and cloud migration frameworks.Core Technology Depth: Strong background in Windows Server administration, enterprise virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and core networking protocols.Service Management: Deep understanding of ITIL methodologies; ITIL certifications are highly desirable.Compliance Knowledge: Thorough understanding of healthcare security and privacy regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and SOC 2.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
