Director of Nursing

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee nursing operations, clinical services, and nursing staff. The Director of Nursing will be responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and efficient day-to-day nursing operations.The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader with excellent communication and organizational skills, a commitment to patient safety, and experience managing nursing teams in a healthcare environment.Key Responsibilities:Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the nursing department.Develop, implement, and maintain high standards of nursing care and clinical practices.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.Develop and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.Supervise, coach, and evaluate nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs/LVNs, and CNAs.Manage nursing schedules, staffing levels, assignments, and coverage to ensure appropriate patient care.Monitor patient outcomes, quality indicators, infection control, and patient safety initiatives.Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.Collaborate with physicians, administrators, rehabilitation staff, social services, and other healthcare professionals.Oversee medication management and ensure proper documentation and administration practices.Address patient and family concerns professionally and promptly.Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives.Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, and professional development of nursing staff.Ensure accurate and timely completion of clinical documentation and medical records.Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys, inspections, and audits.Manage departmental budgets, supplies, equipment, and other nursing resources.Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, compassion, and continuous improvement.Respond effectively to clinical emergencies and other patient-care concerns.Maintain current knowledge of healthcare regulations, nursing standards, and industry best practices.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; ADN may be considered based on experience.Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.3+ years of progressive nursing leadership or management experience preferred.Previous experience as a Nurse Manager, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing, or similar leadership role.Strong knowledge of clinical standards, nursing practices, and healthcare regulations.Experience with staffing, scheduling, performance management, and quality improvement.Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Strong organizational and time-management abilities.Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems and Microsoft Office.
