Applicants join a community-oriented setting where compassionate care and professional standards are equally prioritized.Role Description The Director of Nursing is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Rochester, NY, responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of assisted living and memory care services. This role manages nursing staff scheduling, supervision, and performance, and ensures that care plans are developed, implemented, and regularly updated to meet resident needs. The Director of Nursing monitors infection control practices, medication administration, and adherence to regulatory requirements, while collaborating with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Daily responsibilities include evaluating resident health status, supporting staff education and training, conducting quality assurance activities, and promoting a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement in long-term care.Qualifications Strong nursing leadership and Nursing Management skills, including team supervision, staffing coordination, and performance development.Clinical expertise in Nursing and Medicine, with the ability to assess resident conditions, oversee care plans, and guide evidence-based practice.Experience in Long-term Care settings, preferably assisted living or memory care, with understanding of geriatric and dementia-related needs.Proficiency in Infection Control practices, including prevention protocols, surveillance, and staff education.Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State, in good standing.Prior experience in a nursing director or nurse manager role, or equivalent senior clinical leadership position.Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing assisted living and memory care communities.Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to build trust with residents, families, and staff.Solid organizational and documentation skills, including use of electronic health records and quality improvement tools.Commitment to person-centered care and alignment with Heathwood’s mission and core values.
