Apply & track with Apply EdgeAlexander Milne Developmental Services is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department and help ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care to our residents.This is a leadership-level position for a Registered Nurse who is committed to clinical excellence, staff development, regulatory compliance, and the overall well-being of the individuals we serve.The Director of Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services within the facility.Working closely with facility administration, the DON oversees nursing operations, supports nursing staff, coordinates resident care, monitors quality and compliance, and collaborates with physicians, families, consultants, interdisciplinary team members, and regulatory agencies.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESLead and oversee the nursing department and delivery of resident careImplement and maintain nursing policies and procedures in accordance with current standards of nursing practice and applicable state and federal regulationsMaintain knowledge and oversight of the facility's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systemCommunicate nursing policies and procedures to staff and monitor complianceReview daily reports and ensure timely responses to significant changes in condition, falls, injuries, behavioral episodes, transfers, discharges, and medication errorsEnsure adequate nursing coverage and delivery of compassionate, quality careParticipate in management team meetings regarding resident status, census, staffing, complaints, and concernsSupervise, evaluate, and manage nursing personnelOversee resident assessments and care plansCollaborate with physicians, consultants, and interdisciplinary team members to resolve identified concerns and improve quality of careEstablish and monitor the facility's infection control programPrepare and support nursing staff for regulatory and inspection surveysAssist with Plans of Correction and required Quality Assurance follow-upCommunicate effectively with residents, families, medical professionals, nursing staff, department heads, and interdisciplinary team membersPromote resident participation in ISP/care plansPromote excellent customer service and hospitalityAddress and resolve resident and family concerns regarding nursing servicesParticipate in 24-hour on-call responsibilitiesQUALIFICATIONSCurrent Louisiana RN license or Multi-State RN licenseMinimum 3 years of experience in nursing administration or a comparable management positionCurrent CPR certificationStrong leadership and organizational skillsDemonstrated knowledge of electronic medical records and documentationExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively with nursing staff, residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teamsAvailability to participate in an on-call capacityPreferredMaster's degreeExperience with ICF/IID or long-term care managementKnowledge of facility policies and regulatory requirementsBudgeting experiencePersonnel management experienceCensus development experienceCPR instructor/teaching certificationWe're looking for a nursing leader who is:Compassionate Accountable Organized Knowledgeable Professional Team-Oriented Detail-OrientedIf you're ready to lead a nursing team while helping ensure residents receive the highest practical level of physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, we want to hear from you.If you're an experienced Registered Nurse looking for an opportunity to lead, make an impact, and help shape quality care, we encourage you to apply.Join Alexander Milne Developmental Services and make a difference in the lives of the individuals we serve.
