DIRECTOR OF NURSING, LONG-TERM CARECompensation: $92,000 to $114,000 annually, based on experienceABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYA skilled nursing facility in the Thomasville, Georgia area is seeking the nurse leader who will run its nursing department.You would own the day to day of nursing operations: staffing, clinical quality, survey readiness, admissions and discharges, and the growth of the nursing team itself. Building operations sit with the administrator. Nursing sits with you, along with the authority and the budget that go with it.If you have carried a facility through a state survey, written a plan of correction that held up, and built a nursing team that stayed, this is the kind of seat where that experience matters every week.WHAT YOU WILL DODirect daily nursing operations and coordinate care for the adult and geriatric resident populationLead, coach, and develop the nursing staff, with real investment in onboarding, competency, and retentionOwn staff development programming and make sure it actually reaches the floorKeep the facility survey ready and in step with state and federal requirements at all timesParticipate directly in the annual state survey and author plans of correction when findings come backManage state reportable events and the reporting process end to endBuild the nursing schedule to meet regulatory staffing requirements and resident acuityOversee MDS accuracy and drive the QAPI programManage all facility admissions and dischargesBuild and manage the nursing department budget, and plan staffing needs ahead of the curveSafeguard resident rights, including privacy, confidentiality, and dignityMaintain a safe environment for residents, staff, families, and visitorsPartner closely with the medical director, department leaders, residents, and family membersOversee medication cart practice, equipment, and clinical documentation standardsStep into charge nurse coverage when the building needs itTake call on a rotating basis with the leadership teamWHAT YOU NEEDActive Georgia RN license, or eligibility to obtain one before your start dateBSN requiredMaster's degree in nursing or business administration, held or in progressFive years of professional nursing experience, including at least three years in a nursing administration or leadership roleLong-term care experience is required, not preferredWorking command of LTC regulation: state reportables, the survey process, staffing requirements, and writing plans of correctionMDS and QAPI experienceWillingness to take call on a rotating basisDemonstrated ability to build and manage a departmental budgetCurrent knowledge of nursing practice, clinical methods, and the tools used to deliver care in a skilled settingStrong verbal and written communication, and the interpersonal range to work with clinicians, families, surveyors, and staff on the same daySound clinical judgment and a practical approach to problem solvingOrganization and prioritization skills that hold up when the day gets loudAbility to lead, teach, and hold a team to a standardPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSExtended periods of walking, standing, and sitting throughout the facility, with occasional hands on assistance to residents. Visual acuity sufficient to read printed and electronic documentation, hearing sufficient to follow conversation without lip reading, and clear speech, in each case with corrective lenses or assistive devices as needed.
