The group operates under the mentorship of scientists from the Institute of Thermal Energy, providing a strong scientific and technical foundation. PUT RocketLab focuses on designing and building supersonic sounding rockets and advancing hybrid and liquid rocket propulsion systems. Team members gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge aerospace projects, collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment. The group offers opportunities to contribute to ambitious research while developing practical engineering and leadership skills.Role Description The Director of Operations is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing the daily operational activities of PUT RocketLab. This role involves coordinating project timelines, aligning resources, and ensuring smooth execution of rocket design and propulsion development initiatives. The Director will manage cross-functional teams, facilitate communication between student researchers and mentors, and monitor performance against strategic objectives. Day-to-day tasks include refining operational processes, managing budgets and resource allocation, maintaining documentation, and supporting stakeholder and partner relationships. The person in this role will also help establish standards, implement best practices, and ensure that operational decisions support the group’s research goals and long-term growth.Qualifications Strong Operations Management skills, including process optimization and project coordination.Robust Analytical Skills for data-driven decision-making, problem-solving, and performance tracking.Proven Team Management experience, with the ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary groups.Budgeting skills to plan, track, and report on financial and resource utilization.Customer Service orientation, with the ability to manage relationships with mentors, partners, and stakeholders.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to present complex information clearly.Experience in aerospace, engineering projects, or research environments is highly beneficial.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).Comfort working in a remote, collaborative setting and using digital collaboration tools.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
