Team members join a mission-driven environment that emphasizes patient safety, regulatory excellence, and continuous improvement in pharmacy services.Role Description The Director of Pharmacy is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Phoenix, AZ, responsible for overseeing all pharmacy operations within the long-term care facility or region. This role manages clinical and operational workflows, including medication dispensing, verification, and coordination with nursing and medical staff to ensure accurate and timely delivery of pharmaceuticals. The Director of Pharmacy develops and implements policies and procedures that support regulatory compliance, quality assurance, cost-effective medication use, and resident safety. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and mentoring pharmacy staff, monitoring performance metrics, collaborating with facility leadership on service improvements, and participating in audits and inspections. The role also involves strategic planning, budgeting, and maintaining strong relationships with prescribers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to enhance the overall level of pharmaceutical care.Qualifications Strong foundation in Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy, with the ability to oversee clinical and operational activities in a long-term care setting.Experience in Pharmaceutical Care and Medicine, focusing on optimizing medication regimens, resident outcomes, and interdisciplinary collaboration.Knowledge of Pharmacy Benefit Management, including formulary management, cost containment strategies, and coordination with payers.Current PharmD or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited institution; active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Arizona. Ability to gain multistate licensure as the PIC/PD.Demonstrated leadership experience in a pharmacy environment, preferably long-term care or institutional pharmacy.Familiarity with applicable federal and state pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, and medication safety practices.Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to guide and develop diverse pharmacy teams.Proficiency with pharmacy information systems, electronic health records, and data analysis for quality and performance improvement.
