Director of Platform Engineering / Director of DevOps / Director of Technical Programs

Role DescriptionWe are seeking a strategic and technically focused technology leader to oversee platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure initiatives, and complex technical programs. This role is responsible for establishing scalable engineering platforms, improving software delivery capabilities, strengthening operational reliability, and aligning technical programs with broader organizational objectives.The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, product, security, infrastructure, architecture, and executive teams to define technical strategies, prioritize initiatives, establish engineering standards, and drive successful program delivery. The role combines technical leadership, platform strategy, operational excellence, program management, and cross-functional collaboration.Key responsibilities include:Develop and execute platform engineering, DevOps, and technical program strategies aligned with organizational goals.Lead platform and DevOps teams responsible for infrastructure, automation, developer tooling, deployment systems, and operational platforms.Establish scalable, secure, reliable, and efficient engineering platforms and development environments.Oversee CI/CD infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, cloud platforms, containerization, orchestration, and automation initiatives.Define technical roadmaps, program priorities, milestones, dependencies, and delivery objectives.Drive modernization, cloud transformation, platform scalability, and engineering productivity initiatives.Establish engineering standards, architecture practices, operational processes, and technical governance frameworks.Monitor platform reliability, availability, performance, security, capacity, and operational efficiency.Partner with engineering teams to improve developer experience, software delivery speed, automation, and system reliability.Identify technical risks, dependencies, resource requirements, and potential delivery constraints.Coordinate complex technical programs across multiple engineering and business functions.Establish program management frameworks covering planning, execution, reporting, risk management, and stakeholder communication.Support incident management, root-cause analysis, resilience initiatives, and continuous operational improvement.Evaluate technologies, tools, cloud services, and platform solutions based on technical and business requirements.Manage technical budgets, resources, vendors, and strategic technology partnerships where required.Develop performance metrics covering engineering productivity, platform reliability, deployment efficiency, and program delivery.Present technical strategies, program status, risks, and recommendations to executive leadership.Build high-performing technical teams and promote a culture of innovation, accountability, automation, and continuous improvement.QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.Strong understanding of platform engineering, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, software delivery, automation, and technical program management.Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.Deep understanding of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, containers, Kubernetes, configuration management, and observability.Strong knowledge of software architecture, distributed systems, networking, security, scalability, and reliability principles.Familiarity with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent technologies.Strong strategic-thinking, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.Excellent executive communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.Ability to translate complex technical strategies into clear business objectives and actionable programs.Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or other modern delivery methodologies.Ability to manage complex technical programs involving multiple teams, systems, dependencies, and priorities.Strong understanding of technology governance, risk management, operational resilience, and continuous improvement.Ability to develop technical roadmaps, establish KPIs, manage resources, and monitor program outcomes.Strong leadership and team-development skills with the ability to build collaborative and high-performing engineering organizations.Ability to balance technical quality, business priorities, operational requirements, security, and cost considerations.Relevant certifications in cloud architecture, DevOps, Kubernetes, Agile, or program management are an advantage but not mandatory.
