Apply & track with Apply EdgeDirector of Supply ChainLocation: Jacksonville, FLWork Arrangement: 100% on-siteEmployment Type: Full-time, salaried, exemptCompensation: $120,000 to $135,000 base salaryTravel: Less than 10%, including occasional supplier visits and auditsReports to: Vice President of OperationsPosition Summary:A growing industrial manufacturer is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Supply Chain to lead its purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, material-planning, inventory, and supplier-management functions.This is a true functional leadership position responsible for directing an existing supply-chain team and strengthening the systems, processes, supplier relationships, and operating discipline required to support production and continued business growth.The Director will own supplier strategy, direct-material availability, inventory performance, working-capital improvement, supply-risk mitigation, and procurement process development. The position will also partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and executive leadership to support production continuity, new-product development, and broader business objectives.The successful candidate will bring direct supply-chain leadership experience from a small-to-mid-sized manufacturing organization. This individual must be capable of setting strategic direction, leading and developing people, and remaining closely involved in supplier negotiations, material shortages, sourcing decisions, inventory priorities, and operational escalations.Key Responsibilities:Lead the company’s purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, material-planning, inventory, and supplier-management functions.Manage, develop, prioritize, and hold accountable an existing supply-chain team.Establish functional priorities, performance expectations, policies, processes, and key performance indicators.Develop and execute sourcing strategies that improve cost, quality, delivery, supplier capability, responsiveness, capacity, and continuity of supply.Lead supplier selection, qualification, contract negotiations, commercial agreements, and long-term supplier relationship management.Maintain direct involvement in critical supplier negotiations, purchase-order escalations, material shortages, delivery issues, and alternate-sourcing decisions.Manage direct-material planning and align procurement activity with production requirements, forecasted demand, lead times, and inventory targets.Monitor reorder points, safety stock, material availability, excess and obsolete inventory, and other factors affecting production continuity and working capital.Partner with Engineering on new-product development, prototypes, BOM changes, engineering change notices, component alternatives, manufacturability, and supplier readiness.Identify single-source dependencies, supplier-capacity concerns, commodity risks, and other potential disruptions.Develop alternate suppliers and business-continuity strategies that reduce operational and production risk.Establish supplier scorecards, performance metrics, qualification standards, audit practices, corrective-action expectations, and supplier-development programs.Partner with Quality on supplier performance, certifications, nonconformance issues, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.Analyze procurement spend, purchase-price variance, supplier performance, market conditions, and inventory investment to identify cost and operational improvements.Improve procurement policies, procedures, approval structures, reporting, controls, and ERP or MRP workflows.Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, cost management, inventory investment, and working-capital initiatives.Provide the Vice President of Operations and executive leadership with clear reporting and guidance regarding sourcing initiatives, supplier risks, material availability, inventory, costs, and supply-chain performance.Build a scalable supply-chain operating model that supports growth while maintaining appropriate controls, accountability, and executional discipline.Required Qualifications:Eight or more years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, materials, or supply-chain management.Direct supply-chain experience within a small-to-mid-sized manufacturing organization producing physical products, industrial equipment, machinery, components, engineered assemblies, or similar manufactured goods.Formal people-management experience leading employees within procurement, purchasing, materials, planning, or supply chain.Demonstrated function-wide accountability for supply-chain priorities, performance, processes, and operating results.Experience purchasing direct materials, production components, raw materials, or other inputs required to support manufacturing operations.Demonstrated success developing sourcing strategies and negotiating supplier contracts, pricing agreements, commercial terms, and long-term partnerships.Strong experience managing supplier performance, cost, quality, delivery, capacity, responsiveness, and continuity of supply.Practical experience with MRP, material planning, production shortages, lead-time management, reorder points, safety stock, and inventory optimization.Experience balancing material availability with inventory investment and working-capital objectives.Experience partnering directly with production, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance.Experience supporting new-product introductions, prototypes, BOM changes, engineering changes, alternate components, or product-launch sourcing.Experience evaluating supplier risk, addressing single-source vulnerabilities, and developing alternate sources.Experience building or improving procurement processes, controls, reporting, supplier programs, or team operating practices.Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with budgets, forecasts, cost analysis, purchase-price variance, inventory investment, and working capital.Proficiency with manufacturing ERP or MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.Ability to operate effectively in a hands-on manufacturing environment with changing priorities and direct accountability for results.Close attention to detail, sound ethical judgment, and a commitment to quality, compliance, and operational discipline.Direct manufacturing experience is required. Distribution, logistics, warehousing, indirect procurement, retail purchasing, and other adjacent physical-product environments will not substitute for leadership experience within an actual manufacturing operation.Preferred Qualifications:Previous Director-level responsibility for a manufacturing supply-chain function.Experience in a privately held, growing, entrepreneurial, or operationally evolving manufacturing company.Background in industrial equipment, engineered products, heavy equipment, filtration, automotive components, aerospace components, electronics, plastics, metals, fabricated products, or related manufacturing environments.Experience inheriting and developing an existing procurement or supply-chain team.Documented improvements in cost, inventory turns, working capital, supplier performance, lead times, material availability, or supply continuity.Experience with supplier audits, qualifications, corrective actions, certifications, or quality-management systems.Experience reducing single-source exposure or developing alternate suppliers.Familiarity with business intelligence, dashboarding, or advanced data-analysis tools.Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline.
