The ideal candidate combines strong project leadership with practical business judgment, structured problem-solving, and excellent communication skills.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management StrategyDevelop and maintain project management strategies aligned with organizational priorities.Establish consistent approaches for planning, execution, monitoring, and project closure.Define project management standards, methodologies, and operating practices.Continuously evaluate project processes and identify opportunities for improvement.Project Planning & ExecutionOversee the planning and execution of complex, cross-functional projects.Ensure project objectives, scope, timelines, deliverables, and responsibilities are clearly defined.Monitor project progress and address execution issues before they affect key milestones.Maintain appropriate project documentation and decision records.Project Portfolio ManagementManage visibility across the organization’s project and initiative portfolio.Evaluate project priorities, dependencies, timelines, and resource requirements.Identify portfolio-level risks, capacity constraints, and competing priorities.Provide leadership with a clear view of overall project health and progress.Program & Initiative ManagementProvide oversight for major programs and strategic initiatives involving multiple teams.Coordinate related projects to ensure consistent objectives, dependencies, and execution plans.Establish appropriate governance structures for complex programs.Support project leaders in managing cross-functional initiatives.Resource & Capacity PlanningAssess project resource requirements and support effective allocation of people and budgets.Partner with functional leaders to address resource constraints and competing priorities.Monitor capacity across active and planned initiatives.Develop practical resource plans that support project delivery and business objectives.Project Governance & StandardsEstablish project governance frameworks, approval processes, and reporting standards.Define appropriate project documentation, review processes, and decision-making structures.Conduct project reviews to evaluate progress, risks, resources, and expected outcomes.Promote consistent project management practices across teams.Risk, Issue & Dependency ManagementEstablish structured processes for identifying and managing project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.Review significant project risks and coordinate appropriate mitigation plans.Monitor cross-project dependencies that may affect timelines or deliverables.Escalate material concerns with clear analysis and recommended actions.Project Performance & ReportingEstablish meaningful project performance metrics and reporting practices.Monitor milestones, budgets, schedules, deliverables, risks, and overall project health.Prepare clear project portfolio reports for senior leadership.Use project data to identify trends and support timely management decisions.Process ImprovementReview project management processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and delivery quality.Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, strengthen controls, and improve project visibility.Introduce practical improvements based on project performance data and team feedback.Establish repeatable practices that can support organizational growth.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Product, Operations, Finance, Technology, Sales, Customer Success, and other functional teams.Improve coordination between project teams and business stakeholders.Facilitate alignment around project objectives, priorities, timelines, and responsibilities.Resolve cross-functional execution challenges through structured communication and collaboration.Stakeholder ManagementBuild effective working relationships with executives, business leaders, project sponsors, and project teams.Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and changes clearly and consistently.Ensure stakeholders have appropriate visibility into project progress and business impact.Facilitate project reviews and decision-making discussions when required.Change & Implementation ManagementSupport organizational initiatives that require process, technology, operational, or business changes.Develop implementation plans, communication approaches, and transition activities.Coordinate stakeholders to ensure changes are introduced in a structured manner.Monitor implementation progress and address adoption or execution challenges.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop project managers and project management professionals.Establish clear performance expectations, responsibilities, and development goals.Promote effective project management practices across the organization.Support professional development and knowledge sharing within the project management function.Strategic Planning & Executive PartnershipPartner with executive leadership on strategic planning and major business initiatives.Translate organizational priorities into practical project plans and execution roadmaps.Provide project-based insights that support business planning and resource decisions.Help leadership evaluate project priorities, timing, dependencies, and execution requirements.Project Management Systems & DataOversee the effective use of project management, reporting, collaboration, and portfolio management tools.Improve the quality and consistency of project data and reporting.Identify opportunities to automate routine project reporting and administrative processes.Partner with Technology and Operations teams on project management system improvements.Qualifications8+ years of progressive project management experience, including significant leadership responsibility.Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional projects, programs, or portfolios.Strong understanding of project planning, execution, governance, risk management, and resource planning.Experience developing project methodologies, standards, reporting frameworks, and operating processes.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and competing business requirements.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication abilities.Experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional leadership teams.Strong understanding of project financial management, schedules, dependencies, and performance metrics.Experience with project management and collaboration platforms.Ability to lead and develop project management professionals.Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Operations, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, or another relevant project management certification is a plus.Preferred QualificationsExperience managing enterprise-level projects, strategic programs, or multi-project portfolios.Experience in technology, SaaS, professional services, manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, or another complex operating environment.Experience with Agile, Waterfall, hybrid, or other structured project delivery methodologies.Experience implementing project management offices, governance frameworks, or portfolio management processes.Strong understanding of financial tracking, business cases, project forecasting, and performance reporting.Experience managing distributed or remote project teams.Familiarity with project portfolio management and business intelligence tools.Why
