Director of Purchasing

Our client in the construction industry is seeking a Director of Procurement & Estimating in Houston, TX. This leadership role involves overseeing procurement and estimating functions to support company growth, focusing on strategic sourcing, vendor relations, KPI management, and process automation.The ideal candidate will bring experience in project-based procurement, strategic sourcing, and process automation to support the company’s goal of doubling its growth through operational excellence.Salary & Benefits: $150,000–$170,000 salary plus bonuses, profit sharing, and profit distributionMedical, dental, and onsite gym

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, rebates, and favorable vendor termsCreate KPIs and dashboards using Power BI to monitor team performance and project accuracyLead, mentor, and develop procurement and estimating teams, fostering continuous improvementOversee bid processes, improve estimate accuracy, and standardize workflowsDrive process automation with tools like Power Automate and streamline PO approval and invoice reconciliationEnsure procurement activities align with company objectives and cost-saving targets

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Admin, Construction Management, or similar10+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in supervisory roles within construction, HVAC, Electrical, etc.Proven negotiation skills and experience managing vendor rebates and long sales cyclesProficiency with MS Dynamics/Business Central, Power BI, and process automation toolsStrong leadership, communication, and project management skillsAbility to handle sensitive information with discretionDue to the high volume of applications we typically receive, we regret that we are not able to personally respond to all applications.
