Director of Skilled NursingRochester, MI$100,000-120,000 + BonusOverview Plans, coordinates, and manages the nursing department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect, coordinate, and evaluate the nursing department and the care it provides.Supervise registered nurses, licensed vocational/practical nurses, and other nursing staff.Interview, hire, train, assign, and evaluate nursing personnel; handle discipline, scheduling, breaks, overtime, and staff complaints.Find replacements for absent staff and transfer employees among units as needed.Schedule and perform resident rounds to monitor quality and appropriateness of nursing care.Maintain accountability for proper charting, documentation, medications, and treatments.Recommend staffing levels; develop and implement the written staffing plan and nursing schedule based on resident needs.Participate in the facility budget process; manage nursing supply, equipment, and staffing budgets.Maintain current knowledge of managed care, Medicare, and state Medicaid regulations, reimbursement systems, and JCAHO standards for long-term care where applicable.Participate in Quality Assurance studies and drive process improvements from the data.Ensure nursing staff complete assessments (MDS/RAPs), care plans, interventions, documentation, and physician consultation.Act in charge of the facility in the absence of higher-ranking management.QualificationsGraduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the state.Current CPR certification; additional nursing specialty certification desired.Management or supervisory experience in long-term care, restorative, or geriatric nursing preferred.Free from illegal drug use and from drug/alcohol effects in the workplace.No history of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment of individuals in a health care setting.
