Globally, CEDIA defends the rights of technology integrators in governmental bodies, gathers industry professionals and allied tradespeople, and creates trainings, standards, and certifications to ensure the smart home industry advances and draws fresh talent.SUMMARY & ACCOUNTABILITYThe Dir of Tech Ed Programs leads the strategy, development, quality, and global delivery of CEDIA’s tech ed portfolio, ensuring curriculum, certifications, instructor programs, and learning experiences remain relevant, practical, and aligned with emerging technologies, industry standards, and the evolving needs of the smart home industry.Serving as both a technical SME and education leader, this position drives the development and continuous improvement of high-quality tech ed that builds the skills smart home professionals need throughout their careers.You’ll maintain a strong on-site presence at CEDIA HQ, serve as a tech resource within the Experience Center and training facilities, and will be the leading tech training instructor delivering training to members and non-members.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Other may be assigned.Tech Ed Strategy· Set the overall direction & framework for the tech ed portfolio.Lead the development & evolution of tech ed programs globally.Support the strategic planning, development, & global delivery of tech ed products and services.Define tech training priorities based on industry trends, workforce needs, assoc. strategy, & emerging technologies.Design and recommend comprehensive education pathways and curriculum frameworks.Ensure tech ed aligns with career pathways, certifications, registered apprenticeships, and continuing prof. development.Establish mechanisms for identifying and incorporating emerging technologies & evolving competencies into the portfolio.Drive innovation in instructional delivery where appropriate.Manage tech ed projects, timelines, budgets with the VP of Ed and Training, resources, SMEs, & vendors.Coordinate cross-functional teams and resources to execute strategic ed initiatives.Demonstrate operational excellence by continuously improving processes, efficiency, & the member and learner experience. Curriculum & Competency Development· Ensure tech content is accurate, relevant, competency-based, and aligned to prof. development and certification pathways.Lead the development of tech curriculum, instructional materials, and learning resources aligned with global industry standards.Contribute to advising, developing, writing, and updating textbooks, online course content, certifications, presentations, assessments, & supporting materials.Map training content to industry competencies, certification requirements, recognized occupational standards, and career pathways.Develop progressive learning pathways from entry-level to advanced tech expertise in collaboration with the PDC.Ensure curriculum aligns with emerging technologies across the residential technology ecosystem.Lead the development of instructor resources, including instructor guides, facilitation notes, lab documents, assessments, and certification exams, in collaboration with the Certification Commission.Establish and maintain tech training standards, instructional methodologies, and best practices.Conduct ongoing review, evaluation, and quality assurance of tech curriculum and instructional materials.Help define requirements for tech labs, virtual training, online learning, assessments, and other learning environments.Be able and confident to teach this content at in-person events, local learnings or virtually.Instructor & Hands-On Training Excellence· Build a world-class tech instructor network and ensure training is practical, engaging, and consistently delivered.Lead the development and delivery of instructor-led, hands-on, lab-based, and practical tech training.Deliver high-impact, engaging tech instruction in face-to-face and virtual environments across global regions.Develop and manage a global network of tech instructors and subject-matter experts.Establish instructor qualification, onboarding, training, certification, and evaluation processes.Establish, maintain, and enforce standardized instructor qualification and certification requirements to uphold the integrity and quality of global education delivery.Establish standards for tech instruction, lab environments, practical assessments, instructor qualifications, and training delivery.Ensure tech training reflects real-world smart home integration, design, installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service practices.Build instructor capacity as the association expands internationally.Ensure consistency in tech instruction and learning outcomes across regions while allowing for appropriate local market requirements.Maintain and oversee the organization's Experience Center in Fishers, IN and tech training facilities.Support ed programs conducted at HQ and maintain an engaging, state-of-the-art environment for large-scale and small-group tech instruction.Industry & Emerging Technology Alignment· Keep the association's tech ed connected to the real-world technology ecosystem and future needs of the industry.Engage manufacturers, integrators, educators, SMEs, technology providers, and industry leaders to identify tech ed needs & skills gaps.Develop strategic relationships with manufacturers and technology providers to ensure training reflects current and emerging technologies while maintaining appropriate brand neutrality.Monitor emerging technologies and their impact on smart home professionals.Stay current with global industry trends, standards, best practices, & competitive offerings.Identify emerging skills gaps and recommend new programs, competencies, or credentials to address them.Serve as a global ambassador for the organization.Research tech documentation and industry standards and incorporate relevant developments into tech ed.Global Program Quality & Workforce Development· Scale tech ed globally while maintaining consistent quality and connecting education to workforce and career development.Develop scalable tech ed models that can be adapted across international markets while maintaining consistent learning outcomes and quality.Align tech instruction with workforce development initiatives, registered apprenticeships, career pathways, and industry-recognized credentials.Establish global standards for tech training quality, instructor qualifications, practical assessments, lab environments, and delivery.Evaluate the effectiveness of education programs, certifications, and learner outcomes using data-driven insights.Analyze learner feedback, performance data, assessments, program evaluations, and industry outcomes to drive continuous improvement.Establish and maintain quality assurance processes across global education programs.Lead and manage global volunteer committees and working groups, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, engagement, and successful execution of initiatives.Build global instructor and SME capacity as the organization expands internationally with local labs to conduct hands-on training.Support the development of global workforce strategies in collaboration with the CEDIA Foundation that address current and future smart home industry skills needs.REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES· Proven ability to develop and execute strategies, curriculum frameworks, competency models, and learning pathways using adult learning principles and instructional methodologies across multiple formats, including instructor-led, hands-on, virtual, and online learning.· Ability to recruit, develop, coach, evaluate, and support tech instructors and subject-matter experts.· Exceptional ability to build collaborative relationships with members, instructors, volunteers, manufacturers, technology providers, educators, and other industry stakeholders while maintaining appropriate brand neutrality.· Ability to develop scalable programs and standards that deliver consistent quality.· Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.· Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences.ED AND EXPERIENCE· Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred· 7+ years related experience.· Advanced tech knowledge in the systems integration industry.· Solid advanced networking skills strongly preferred.· Extensive adult ed delivery and classroom management and coaching/instructor experience.TRAVELThis position will be required to work a flexible work schedule when traveling (evenings and weekends possible) and requires up to 50% domestic and international travel; delivering CEDIA training and content at HQ, CEDIA Connects, local learnings, etc. This position will also require you to travel to organizational off-site events annually, up to 2 weeks/year.
