Director of Technology About the Role We are looking for an experienced technology leader for one of our SaaS clients who would own the engineering direction for a portfolio of cloud-based SaaS products and platforms. This role combines strategic technology leadership with strong technical involvement, requiring someone who can translate business objectives into scalable technology solutions and high-quality engineering execution. The Director of Technology will shape the evolution of our technology landscape as they continue to incorporate AI across products, platforms, and engineering workflows. You will work closely with Product, Data, AI, and business leadership to identify opportunities, establish priorities, and build technology capabilities that create meaningful customer and business value. The role will also involve developing engineering leadership, strengthening organizational capabilities, and establishing a culture focused on technical excellence, innovation, reliability, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Define and execute the technology strategy for a portfolio of SaaS products, platforms, and shared engineering capabilities. Translate business and product objectives into technology roadmaps, architectural priorities, and measurable engineering outcomes. Lead and scale engineering organizations through senior engineering managers, architects, and technical leaders across multiple teams and locations. Provide technical direction on architecture, platform evolution, scalability, reliability, security, and modernization initiatives. Identify meaningful opportunities to apply AI and emerging technologies across products, customer workflows, data platforms, and software development practices. Drive the adoption of AI capabilities beyond experimentation, with an emphasis on production-grade solutions, measurable outcomes, governance, and long-term maintainability. Partner with Product, Design, Data, AI/ML, Security, Infrastructure, and business teams to establish priorities and make effective technology trade-offs. Build organizational capabilities required to support rapid product development while maintaining engineering quality and operational discipline. Develop engineering leaders and create a strong succession pipeline across the organization. Establish effective engineering practices around architecture, development, testing, observability, security, reliability, and continuous delivery. Own technology planning across capacity, organizational design, budgets, and strategic investments. Stay current with developments in AI, cloud technologies, developer platforms, and modern software engineering, assessing their relevance to the business. Represent engineering and technology strategy with senior executives and other key stakeholders. What They're Looking For 15+ years of experience in software engineering, technology, or product engineering, with substantial experience leading large-scale engineering organizations. Demonstrated experience managing managers and senior technical leaders in SaaS, enterprise software, or technology product companies. Strong understanding of modern software architecture, distributed systems, cloud platforms, APIs, data platforms, and scalable product engineering. Experience taking technology strategies from concept through execution, including multi-year modernization or platform initiatives. Practical experience applying AI/ML, generative AI, or intelligent automation to real products, platforms, or business workflows. Ability to remain technically credible and engage with architects and senior engineers on complex technology decisions without becoming a day-to-day individual contributor. Strong business acumen and the ability to connect technology investments with customer outcomes, product strategy, and commercial priorities. Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and business leaders. Experience operating in globally distributed, multi-team engineering environments. Strong track record of building high-performing teams and developing engineering leadership talent. Preferred Experience Experience leading technology transformation within an established SaaS or enterprise software organization. Experience scaling AI-enabled products or embedding AI capabilities into existing software platforms. Familiarity with LLMs, generative AI, AI agents, intelligent automation, or AI-powered developer tooling. Experience establishing responsible AI practices covering security, privacy, governance, reliability, and risk. Exposure to large-scale cloud modernization, platform engineering, DevOps, observability, and engineering productivity initiatives. Experience working across multiple geographies and building strong engineering cultures in distributed organizations.
